Questions about Nba 2k13 on PC

    Hey Guys,

i just bought NBA2k13 for PC yesterday. I also have it for Xbox but as i saw those great edits and mods for PC, so i just bought it

My PC is not the best one but im trying to replace the old things (Video Card, CPU) so that i can run that Game on high settings and good FPS (50+)

Now its running on 25 FPS ,and its not amazing...

    Heres my System :

Windows Version: Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate Edition (build 7600), 64-bit
    Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) II X2 240 Processor (Dual-Core)
Graphics Card: GeForce 8800 GTS (256 Mb)
    Total RAM: 4.0 GB

Is a good CPU or a good video card more important to run that game on high settings ?

I think ill buy this video card : http://www.msi.com/product/vga/R7770-PMD1GD5.html

Whats about my CPU ? Can this one run the game on high settings and high FPS ?

    Thank you for your Time

Re: Questions about Nba 2k13 on PC

Getting a video card is always good, but your CPU seems pretty underwhelming as well. One suggestion before you buy anything is to go to Control Panel and look under Power Options to see if you have it set to high performance, it makes a pretty big difference.

Other than that, that CPU doesn't seem very strong. If the power options thing doesn't work, wait for a couple more responses, because I'm a little rusty on my PC hardware numbers, plus I'm really tired.

Also curious about this for my computer as seeing the graphics mods for the PC version has blown me away. I consider myself really good with computers, just never really done any gaming on them before so I'm not sure.

Windows version: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit(6.1,Build 7601

Processor: AMD A6-3400M APU with Radeon HD Graphics(4 CPUS),~1.4ghz

      Memory:8GB RAM

Graphics card: AMD Radeon HD 6520G (I think I looked this up right)

So what do yall think? I think I should be good to go I mean I have a Quad-core HP Pavilion dv7.

      EDIT: here's a link to it I found http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...?EdpNo=1883053

You looked it up correctly, but that "card" is actually integrated graphics, so your computer may have a little trouble with it. Plus I'm a little concerned about your processor's low clock speed, a phrase I thought would never come out of my mouth. Anything over two is usually more than enough, but 1.4 is pretty low, you might be on the brink.

Either way, you aren't going to see the stunning graphics that you saw online, at least I don't think.

Also, you have like 4+ too many GB of RAM, that is hugely excessive. I have 4 GB on a Core i7 920 with a Nvidia GTX 275, and it hangs around 50% usage all of the time. There is no way you are hitting 20% on your RAM usage, or at least there is no way that your computer should be working that fast based on your specs.

LOL this part confused me, I know I have 8GB of ram with (7.48GB useable).

If it's not too much trouble could you explain this a little more, you have seriously piqued my interest with this statement.

I'm sure you know how RAM works, so I won't go into that. But what I meant was unless you are doing some sort of heavy video editing, and judging by your other specs, you're not, you will not ever utilize that 8 GB of RAM, especially with the limited amount that CPU can handle.

I have a more powerful desktop, and I seldom utilize more than 2 to 2.5 GB of RAM. But, the good thing is that RAM is interchangeable, and you always have extra if you want to upgrade.

Dear lord yes. That is some top notch stuff. That GPU is pretty sweet, I won't lie. And 4GB is a perfect amount of RAM. The machine seems pretty balanced so as to not have many, if any at all, limiting factors.

One suggestion, get a good power supply, I got a crap one the first go round (not entirely my fault) and I nearly fried it from overuse. Make sure you get a sufficient wattage, there is a site here that tells you what you need based on your info. I guessed you would need about 650, and then plugged in your stuff (made a few assumptions about peripherals) and got 600 as the MINIMUM. Do not get a 600W power supply, get at least 650, I would honestly get 700 or up because that is one area you don't want to have to repeat. And I will throw a huge plug to Corsair, they have top of the line stuff, and they have a top notch company; they sent all of my stuff in a nice foam padded box with a sticker for the case and a bunch of little zip ties for power cord management.

Also, you are gonna be running hot unless you have a good case with good air movement. I wouldn't even mess with a mid size case honestly, I would go right for a full tower, they generally have more expansion room for fans, plus it keeps the components from heating each other up and get the air through better.

One more thing, look into spending a little on a heatsink (and if you're building yourself, don't forget thermal grease), because the stock heatsinks are ok, but not really big enough to get rid of the heat for a lot of gaming.

Also, last thing I promise (maybe) is that 2k runs hotter in the menus than in the games. Jay-Z is an idiot, but that is what happens, so don't worry if it fires up for the menus and then quiets down for the rest.

I realize that everyone is on a budget, so don't feel like your computer is going to catch fire if you don't do what I suggested. Just do what you can, and it'll be fine in a mid case with the stock fan. I'm just saying that if you're committed, and you have the bucks, do it right and it will last a long time. Mine is over 4 years old now and still blazing through games.
