Noob to Modding NBA 2K14 PC

I've been reading through the forums and notice all the sweet mods and work you all put into this game I just got it for the first time on my gaming PC and would love to make use of all these mods.... problem is I have no clue where to start.. I've modded other games before, but never NBA aha. Could anybody point me in the right direction or lings/threads with things I could download, and what files I'm supposed to apply the mods into. Kinda Lost. Thanks

Places like moddingway.com and nba2k.org are great places to get mods for 2K. Installing mods are easy though, right click the nba 2k14 icon on your desktop and select "open file location". There you'll see all the files for the game. Once you download a mod (cyber faces, uniforms, courts, globals) simply drag and drop it into the folder you just opened. Make sure you back up your files in case you don't like the mod you just installed. Rosters go in the roaming folder: to find if hold down windows button and the R key (at least for windows 8) and then type "appdata" in the search box, go to "roaming", then "2k sports" then "game saves", and this is where you put any roster file you download. Hope this helps

Yupp that helped a lot so pretty much everything but roster mods go in the main file location (Icon File Location), and what about mods like progressive sweating etc? where can I download those? Better eye popping colors for the courts, uniforms etc? and Scoreboard mods also?

Yep everything except for rosters go in the main 2K14 folder. If you go on the sites I mentioned you'll find plenty of great mods, and to make it better mods like cyber faces, courts, and jerseys from 2k13 work for 2K14. Here's links to good jerseys and courts as well as a 2K14 global mod with longer hex pads and progressive sweat

          Progressive sweat

Scoreboards from 2k13 don't work for 2k14 but I'm sure there'll be se mods up soon but progressive sweat mods are part of the global that I linked to you and those go in the main 2K14 folder as well

Do any Ball mods from 13 or 12 work?

First of all make a backup of the complete default installation folder of NBA2k14.
You are lucky that you've entered the pc world of NBA2k this year because it's the first time the game has no major bugs and plays a great sim bball videogame out of the box.
What you need so far is:
              1. A good SweetFX or ENB preset. I recommend SweetFX.
              2. Apply Ambient Occlusion, AA and AF with a program like RadeonPro.
              3. The updated court reflections mod+self shadowing mod.
              4. Cyberfaces. There are previews in each description/file. Most of them are 8+ out of 10 quality.
              5. Presentation/Scoreboards. So far there are no working scoreboards but there is a very good ESPN presentation mod you can apply in your game.
              6. NBA2k Audio Editor by Leftos - With this one you can replace the game's soundtrack with your favourite songs.

Ball mods from 2013 still work.

I'm having problems with this, because I bought the game from Steam. When I go to the folder it just shows some sort of steam link but none of the roster files or anything like that.

                  Any help?

                    Program Files(x86)< Steam< SteamApps< Common< NBA2k14

All I've had to do with pretty much every file I've put in there is find the original file and pull it out into a "back up" folder I've made in case the mod doesn't work or lags my computer. Then insert the mod I downloaded and play.

You need to use either Alexzou's Trainer or Alex's Trainer.
