Re: NBA 2K16 PC Impressions thread

Well I was going to post the stats from my first game, but it froze with 1:48 left in the game. Worse, it also managed to basically freeze my entire system (couldn't even get to Task Manager to close it), so I'm inclined to believe whoever said there might be a memory leak issue.

Few things about the gameplay from what I can remember without seeing the stats:

    - Thought the game flow was really nice on the regular Simulation settings at 12 minutes, Superstar.

    - FG% was around 50% for both teams.

    - Lots of loose balls, either because of tipped passes, normal steals, or blocks. I didn't see the numbers before the freeze but turnovers were probably high.

    - Transition game was a big factor, teams will definitely look to push the break this year.

    - Fouls were okay, not great. Majority were still shooting, think I saw one blocking foul (at halfcourt, no less), and a few loose ball fouls. I didn't see the numbers but I'm pretty sure FT totals were low.

    - CPU not only missed, but Air-Balled a free throw. Can safely say I've never seen that before.

Going to double-check some graphics settings and performance in 2k15 before I try another game.

This game feels completely different. And I like it. If feels like you really have to play well on D to not give up easy shots.

Game is running a little choppier for me than last year given the same settings, and one of them might be a little messed up. I noticed SuperSampling reverts to 1 if I try to change it to 0 in-game, although it shows up as being turned off in the configuration file (which is located in the same spot as last year). Nothing wrecked performance in 2k15 for me worse than trying to turn Supersampling on.

I'm getting anywhere from 50-60 FPS during gameplay, and unfortunately it's noticeable when it fluctuates. 30 FPS in cutscenes because I have dynamic VSYNC turned on.
Try setting config file to read-only.

Pre-Order DLC seem to not work, yet.

Same setting in 2K15 are now netting me around 50-55 FPS in that game, so maybe I've got some other issue. Don't take my performance issues as gospel, at least until I figure out what happened to 2k15's performance on my system. The only things I can report for certain for now are the disappearing PBP and the freeze.

I haven't updated drivers in a while either - should probably check if there are any new ones out. I'll try that read-only thing too.

Make sure you don't max out Supersampling, I have absolutly solid 60FPS with my 980.

Re: NBA 2K16 PC Impressions thread

All is good now after lowering AA settings, locked steady 60 FPS in gameplay, 30 in cutscenes with dynamic VSYNC. Looking over the config file I think that "0" is just a "use application settings" option because all of the LOD options are defaulted to "0" in the file. But they show up in the in-game options as whatever I change them to - for me they're all on high. Maybe SuperSampling = 1 is just 1x - meaning no enhancement. And you'd have to go up to 2 for it to actually be using the SuperSampling.

It's the same for both 2k15 and 2k16, so once again it'll just be a matter of tweaking AA up again until I hit a point where I can't sustain 60 FPS in gameplay. AA isn't all that important to me anyway, given I'm 1080p on a 23.9 inch monitor - you hit diminishing returns pretty quickly with a small monitor like this.

Also of note - the game is loading up MUCH faster every time since the first time I started it (including after a couple PC restarts). Might be even faster than 2k15.

Sorry for all the tech-heavy impressions - I'll try to get some more thoughts on the gameplay once I actually get through a game and can show the stats.

Does anyone has the same problem and maybe a solution / workaround?

Do you perhaps have Dynamic Vertical Sync on? Because I turned it on and that occurred to me and when I went back to turn it off the issue was gone.

Anyone able to Optimize their game in GeForce Experience?

We are experiencing major stuttering (my rig is a beast).

Changed the res to 1440p and now the game barely makes it through to the main menu and then crashes out.......

Dare I say, PC version aint quite ready.....? Haha..... seems there are performance inconsistencies for some unlucky people (myself included).....

I get crazy stuttering as well. When they zzom in to guys coming of the court for timeouts it is like slo motion. I even turned off all the advanced effects. Still runs like crap.

Agree with the sucky storyline. I'm just trying to get through it as fast as I can. I can barely play with the stuttering and I didn't get any pre-order VC for whatever reason. 4 games into 8 and I'm trying to make it to 60 overall.

Time for a break and nap I guess.

At least give me a button to tell Vic and my girlfriend to hit the bricks. Sis and I will be better alone. Quit forcing me to do stupid crap!

Normal Gameplay is absolutly fine for me, but in MyPark in 3v3 I get like 40FPS, while my GTX980 is at 20% Load. 2v2 I had no problem.

One thing is for sure about the gameplay - even though I said I thought shooting fouls were low in that frozen-up game, I would really like to be able to leave the shooting foul slider right where it is. The reason is because shooting fouls actually LOOK like shooting fouls, and not every bit of contact in the paint gets called. The amount of contact animations in this game is very impressive.

Running a 980 Ti with 16gb Ram and loaded onto and SSD. The game wont move. Down to under 1 fps at the main menu and crashes out......

Similar to all, constant crashes when messing with video settings. Vsync doesn't seem to be working as I have drops in FPS and constant tearing. I just requested a refund from Steam and will get on the XB1...so disappointed :-(
