Re: 2K16 modding...
I just moved to PC gaming this year, you guy's seem really excited for drag and drop modding tool, and 3D modelling, anyone mind going more specific what all the excitement is about? Like will it allow for modders to remodel the players bodies to make it more realistic etc?

Re: 2K16 modding...
Some good stuff out already...the Charlotte court mod adds real arena name, signage and seems to reduce those ridiculous 'bobbleheads' in the crowd.
TD Garden mod really improves the Celtic's floorboards and adds real name.
A really good D Rose mod out also.
By Christmas, this thing will have mods everywhere and be simply drag and paste. Good times on the PC awaitLast edited by Walt Frazier; 11-01-2015, 07:02 AM.Comment

Re: 2K16 modding...
Simply dragging mods into your 2k folder has arrived

Re: 2K16 modding...
Pleased to report that new method works
So easy...i just switched between MVP D Rose and current D Rose by just dragging the iffs.
As simple as it was back in the 2K14 days
***really hope the future official patches do not cause any issues.Comment

Re: 2K16 modding...
Copy the new file in the link above first...QUOTE from NLSC:
To use it, just drag the extracted contents of the archive into your 2K16 install folder. Then, to install mods, just put the modded iffs inside of the "Modded" folder with the original filename. Files that have the "shared/" prefix go inside the shared folder, and you delete the "shared/" portion of the iff filename. So that's it. No more imports (except for OGGs)".
Then simply copy the iffs into that 'modded' folder.
It is even easier than 2K14 imo.Comment

Re: 2K16 modding...
Yeah, it's not easier, but it's about as easy as 2K14 and certainly easier than 2K15. Once you are setup, pretty much everything is drag-and-drop like it used to be.
It will still take some time, but between this, planned updates for Greg's tool, and the upcoming roster editor, we should be at or near the capability we had prior to 2K15, which is a pretty big deal considering how locked up everything seemed to be last year.Comment

Re: 2K16 modding...
Which part you guys dont understand ? Its easier than it ever was and you also dont need to back up any of your files and we never had that before.
You download the new tool, extract everything from it to the main directory of 2k, put the DOWNLOADED MODS (like cyberfaces) into the folder named Modded which is now in your 2k16 directory and thats it, play the game, whenever you wanna use the original file instead of the one you have installed all you need to do is go into the Modded folder and delete the file you dont wanna use anymore. It's simple and extremely useful since as i already mentioned we dont have to back up anything .NBA: Miami Heat
NFL: Philadelphia Eagles
MLB: New York MetsComment

Re: 2K16 modding...
Otherwise, as long as the mod doesn't have "shared/" in the file name (which will be most mods), there is no extra work or extra steps. It's just drag and drop.
Steps:
1. download the External File Plugin
2. Install the included files (which should include 3 .dlls and the "modded" folder) into your game folder (\Steam\steamapps\common\NBA2K16)
3. Find the mods you wish to download and install (a quick and easy one to test with is masked D. Rose since it's an obvious change: https://mega.nz/#!JNdF2BTY!YJcGDKipN...PEh_Waa95xRh0o) and put them in the new "modded" folder.
That's it.
From now on, all downloaded mods, unless otherwise specified, will just be dropped into the "modded" folder.
Decide you don't like the mod? Delete it. That's it. Switching or deleting mods is actually easier/safer than with 2K14 and prior since you aren't replacing game files and are just pointing the game to whatever you put in your "modded" folder. You don't even have to exit the game to check out different mods...just change them on the fly.
EDIT: For those worried/confused about the shared files stuff, here is further clarification from TBM over at NLSC:
Originally posted by TBMYou'll know when it's a shared file, because the mod creator should say so. 90% of files are just regular files that go into the modded folder. Only a few arena files and things like that are shared.Comment
