Possible workaround for invisible players/crash to desktop

    Hi folks,

We are investigating reports of users seeing invisible players, primarily on the PC version of the game. If you are experiencing this, the following MAY help to resolve the issue:

    1) Navigate to your NBA 2K16 userdata folder in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\xxxxxxxx\370240\local (where 'xxxxxxxx' is an 8 digit random number).
    2) Delete your SYNC.BIN file.
    3) If you are running an anti-virus scanning program, ensure that your "local' folder in step 1 above has been whitelisted (or you can disable it entirely at your own risk).
    3) Reboot the game and allow it to idle for some time as updates are re-downloaded; don't dismiss the dialog (this may take some time if the connection between our servers and you is not optimal).

In addition to the invisible players, if you are seeing a crash a very specific point in the game (such as on boot), this MAY help you as well.

If you are still seeing invisible players after performing the following steps, please reach out to customer service.

How about unbanning the guy who got banned for reporting a bug in your broken release version?

Or is it 2K's standard practice to ban people for encountering bugs and reporting them?

Seriously. I used to like this game. But seeing how my computer struggles to run this game and seeing how users struggle to actually play the game after encountering a bug and going through the pain of actually reporting it ... makes me seriously think 2K is a ****ty company and NBA 2K might as well not exist on PC.

I would also recommend adding NBA 2K16's folder or executable (Steam\steamapps\common\NBA 2K16) to your antivirus' whitelist.

Hi Leftos, had crash with both sound on and off(ingame though), also that report was after i did that possible workaround and disabled antivirus. Gameplay in rttp is very much improved, but i couldn't finish last 3 games because of crash.

Is there going to be an actual fix for game crashing in myteam RTTP? 1 month and 5gb later the problem is still there!

Simballer or Ledtos...my game completely freezes on the loading screen now.

Tried a dozen times...freezes every.single.time after the patch.

It was absolutely fine pre patch. Is there a way to play WITHOUT this patch?!?

If you are experiencing some players being completely invisible on PC, I found that deleting the archive that contains the files for the games shoes and verifying cache with steam solved that problem. Likely some files in the archive were corrupted during a download of the full game. Deleting just that archive and verifying is a quick way around that. I believe the archive was 1L.

Unfortunately, a different bug came up after the patch today that now makes players' feet entirely invisible, including the players that run around in the background of the menu screens. Deleting the shoes archive doesn't fix this one and I'm at a loss. Any ideas? Leftos, anyone?

The workaround in the first post of this thread worked for me. After deleting the sync.bin file in steams user data directory, I waited like 20 minutes after starting the game to allow the file to re-download. I eventually had to dismiss the update dialogue, but it seemed to work and no more invisible shoes!

Is it fair to ask for updates that don't literaly brake the game ? It's the second time an update does it for me.
