Re: NBA.COM's in depth Overview of LIVE 06

I noticed a change in graphics every year, just the player sizes never really changed. Live '02 had the sizes correct, but went smaller in 2003 then stayed the same.

Authentic stadiums came in Live 2004 as well as more cyberfaces for the players, but the funniest thing is that on the PS2 version, Kobe's head was extremely black while his body wasn't nearly as dark.

2005 brought in some rediculous court lighting, more cyberfaces, a cleaner apperance, but the player models were horrible. Players looked like thier child counterparts and everyone had the same muscle tone.

2006 has more detail on the muscle, the faces look better, but the courts still have horrible lighting and the players still look tiny.

So yea, there's been an improvement in graphics over the years. Just nothing major.

Some of you guy's are really putting too much emphasis on graphics.

I owned both games and too be honest neither one of them looked great and I don't really see why people are proclaiming ESPN to have better graphics. In motion with all 10 guy's movings on thbe floor I thought Live's animations were much better.

I thought that the Gameplay which is basically the most important aspect to me overall was better in Live. In fact to be honest after I tweaked Sliders for both games in the end Live played much better than ESPN.

Sure the graphics haven't changed much but hey that really applies to both sides. Neither VC or EA have really done much in terms of changes with their Graphics. So, that leaves me with gameplay and after not playing Live for about 3 years I must say once you really edited a coupe of things and created Sliders the game was very good. I didn't have that feeling about ESPN but hey who knows maybe this year I'll buy both games again and VC's game will play better. But I'm sure the graphics on both sides will still be the same.

Live even with good Sliders doesn't compare to SIM basketball, it is its own kind of basketball, i call it ARCADE SIM.

Yes it does, if you play the game right.

Sorry, but the frequent CPU cheating on Live killed the gameplay for me.

Exactly....while I agree that the motion of players was more fluid in Live, I was straight robbed w/ waaaay too many half court and corss court shots the CPU hit at the end of close games.

Go load up my Sliders in the NBA Slider Forum then input all the Team Specific plays I showed everyone last year then come back and talk to me about SIM play.....

I had no problems with Live after breaking down the game, inputting all the team specific play sets and using my sliders.

how about changing team "styles"? everytime i would do that for my team, they'd stop running fastbreaks! the game was screwed up everytime i would try and change those settings

Guy's were changing the plays by using the Offensive Playbook instead of the QUICK PLAY's.

I showed guy's how to get the CPU and HUman teams to run plays by using the QUICK PLAY options instead of the Offensive Playbook. It worked 100x better that way.

Basically the CPU would cycle through their Quick Plays and since I selected 4 Go To Plays for the CPU's Top Offensive players using that feature what it did was get them to run offensive set plays instead of the normal Quick Plays that were listed (The set Plays replaced the Quick Plays) last year.

I basically tricked the CPU into cycling through actual plays from a Playbook using the QUICK PLAY features.

I still got Live 2005 on my HDD, i will try your sliders and all the plays and see how it goes. I was basically using Pared sliders in 2004 and 2005 and basically it wasnt SIM, i didn't get the feel of SIM when playing Live, i get a ARCADE SIM type of game. But anyways let me try out what you said, let me start up Live 05.

I looked at the Slider Forum and I don't know what happened to all the Sliders. I only see Pareds Sliders listed. I started a huge thread shortly after his Sliders so guy's didn't start using my Sliders until later.

It was over there but I don't know what happened to it. We had all the team specific plays, and roster edits that needed to be done aswell. They put the roster edits into a file over at the roster forum.

But that's weird I don't know what happened to my Sliders.... I don't have them written down anywhere because I traded the game in just recently back in July. Maybe Sirjam or a few other guy's might still have them on memory card.
