    EGM Preview of Live 360

This is a quote from 1up.

In the October 2005 issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly scheduled to hit stores soon (the one with the awesome Final Fantasy VII cover), EGM's Bryan Intihar reports on the first ever playable version of NBA Live 06 for Xbox 360.

The game -- which was shown in a too-early-to-be-playable state behind closed doors at E3 earlier this year -- will include obvious next-gen upgrades such as detailed player models and arenas, but some of the more innovative features relate to the on-court presentation. For instance, the camera angles will be more dramatic than Live players are accustomed to, and the crowd's cheers will more accurately reflect what is happening on the court (finally!). For the full scoop on the game, check out EGM's October issue -- but for a quick glimpse at extra screens from the game, head over to our media page. NBA Live 06 for Xbox 360 is scheduled for release in November.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
I can't wait for this. I get EGM so I should get it pretty soon. This thursday or Friday probably.

I know this is a live forum, but this statment really bothers me "the crowd's cheers will more accurately reflect what is happening on the court (finally!)" I mean hello 2k basketball crowds have been doing this just fine for years, and I believe lives this gen crowds have been too. Wow how innovative

This is why I'm hoding off on the next gens systems for now, I still don't believe there is going to be that huge of a difference, accept in the graphics department.

Maybe the preview will be good though. I agree, NBA 2K5 had an awesome crowd. I am hoping that the preview will have some screenshots. They will be newer than the E3 ones and hopefully something besides Sonics vs. Pistons.

        Found this on GAF:

-Players with photo-realistic mugs, moving uniform cloth and perspiration. Players have real emotions

-20 different camera options. Dynamic camera (e.g. you're at the top of key and pass to a open player in the corner. The camera will go behind that particular player.)

-Better crowd noise, they're more pumped up into the game depending on whats going on. Players will shout out to pass or shoot the ball as well

-Lots of activity in the sidelines. Cameramen, cheerleaders, mascots, etc. You can even collide with these people. Dive for a ball and hit the cameraman and it'll show an instant replay at that partciular camera angle

-Gameplay enhanced using real physics to determine collisions. If body parts hit, it'll affect the offensive player driving up the lane

        -Arenas rebuilt from scratch

^^Good. I like that especially emotions. I hate how the current gen has zombie faced guys no matter what, but somehow MVP had face movements since 03.

Re: EGM Preview of Live 360

Definitely interested in seeing what they have to offer. Honestly, the previews for CH 2K seem to be the best in bringing excitement to me. I do like the idea of what they are trying to do with these two:

-Better crowd noise, they're more pumped up into the game depending on whats going on. Players will shout out to pass or shoot the ball as well

-Lots of activity in the sidelines. Cameramen, cheerleaders, mascots, etc. You can even collide with these people. Dive for a ball and hit the cameraman and it'll show an instant replay at that partciular camera angle
In the old 2K, they use to have generic player voices talking on the court. It's like one of those good somethings that they took out. I'd love to be able to talk on the court to the opponent and even get him irritated with me. That could be sweet. Plus the colliding into spectators off the court might be a great addition. Honestly, it does happen enough to implement but not enough to make an "addition" for the next gen. Well, at least it shouldn't be one of the thing we look forward too. I'll stop throwing eggs. I'm quite curious to see what EA has for their next-gen. Shoot, I'll definitely be taking my time buying next-gen games for the rest of my systems life. This is honestly sweet....

Re: EGM Preview of Live 360

I got that issue of EGM yesterday and I must say....

that I'm not all that impressed by the screen shots. If I had a scanner here at work I'd show you guys but the screenshots they took are bad IMO. (If you guys really wanna see them, I can find a way)Then to top it off, next to each screenshot, is one of the features thats already been listed in this thread.

I hate to be so pessimistic but for a XBOX 360 game, I was expecting something better looking. The players arms look extremly long for one. The jerseys look no better than what 2K is offering. And they say the fabric finally moves...well that aint nothing new. Filling the sidelines with camera men and mascots....they dont show any any the screenshots yet but they're promising "several onlookers". My guess is per sideline. 4-5 cheerleaders, a few cameramen and a mascot....I hate to bring up that other game again.

Anyway....from what I see, the closeups look amazing. The courts as well as the crowd look imporved and I'm a sucker for jumbotrons so I'm happy to see them really operational. (No pics in book) And hopefully this player emotion thing they're talking about is great but my general opinion right now, after reading the preview is that I'm unimpressed.

Still Sonics vs Pistons which means that these are old screenies.

I wouldn't expect any solid information on the X Box 360 version till mid to late Oct., when the current generation sales start to level out. Not very good business to advertise and hype up a game , when you are still trying to make money on the same game coming out earlier. In this case hasn't even been released for another 20-something days.

Don't get your panties all wrinkled up until we start to see real previews and new information. Don't sell the product short without knowing everything.

Well I'm one of those in the dark ppl who dont sweat all over previews dont fall for hype. I have'nt read much about the current gen NBA Live, only breezed through most of the threads in this forum and dont really pay attention to what most ppls impressions of the demo are. I like to be overwhelemed with info during the release week.

With that said, the EGM issue with the Live preview is the very first time I've seen the XBOX 360 version besides the Dwayne Wade screenshot. My initial reaction is that I'm unimpressed with what they've shown so far. I'm also unimpressed by the so called features list that came in the preview. Only a few things stuck out but for the most part some where already on the current gen. This is XBOX 360 we're talking about. I'm sure te game will be good but I was definitely expecting better than the EGM preview.

Also, one other thing, you said that they're not hyping the 360 game because of the current gen Live. Meh...look at Madden and tell me you're kidding. The current gen game is already out and we've yet to be blessed with any kind of "real" info even though our mouths are watering for it.

Good, let's hope players can actually dribble when no doing moves now too lol

Know what I'd love to see in Live? A better physic system that is more realistic where players don't slide but plan and move instead of float. So far, they have the ball physics in Live 06 for a good majority of the game. However, the player movement is still outdated stuff. I'm still not liking the next-gen pics either. The stadium looks kind of fly. Ironically, the players are just a little more graphical upgrade from what they are in the game. Their bodies are still mismatched and improperly proportioned. The ball is the only tight thing in the game. Of course, the preview just doesn't sound like it's appealing enough. It's basically the name. I just don't see that much of an upgrade....

p.s.-Not to mention that I'm definitely not waiting for Madden next-gen either. Too much negative in that too. Maybe those classes EA is paying for in Montreal will pay off and run through the whole company. Shoot, some of them kats from EA Chicago need to infiltrate the rest of EA and teach them how to better proportion players for crying out loud

Thats what I;m saying. Everyone had these long gorilla arms and when they stand idle, its really fugly.

They said the stadiums are'nt finished yet but I'm happy that they're including working scoreboards, a realistic scorers table as well as ppl on the sidelines. That should give the court more of a full feeling. I cant stand the current gen Lives courts. The sidelines are to big and empty.

As for the player models, up close the faces look like a work of art but from a far, they look no better than what we already have. And since we'll be seeing the game mostly from a far, its not looking to pretty.

                              The Players:
Players now break a sweat(some more than others) throughout four quarters. Players will also portray true emotion. For instance, a defender will grimace after taking a charge, and loudmouths such as the Pacers' Ron Artest will argue calls. Hopefully he won't be too emotional and get into a brouhaha with unruly fans.

                              The Camera:
Even the perspective from how you play the game is receiving some tweaks. NBA Live 06 will offer roughly 20 different(and fully customizable) camera options, and the overall system will be more dynamic. "It may start as your basic low camera." says Tschirner."But if you're at the top of the key an you pass the ball to an open guy in the corner, the camera is going to then cut to behind that particular player."

                              The Arenas:
Another next-gen bonus is the crazy amount of detail that's going into each team's digs. "We've rebuilt all the arenas from scratch." This equates into scenery like fully functioning Jumbotrons that display game footage,a scorer's table, and even those ever-changing billboards that wrap around several NBA homes.

                              The Crowds:
Usually, those in the seats go neglected. Not in how they look, per se, but in their reactions. In NBA Live 06 crowds will respond with a thunderous roar if, say the home team has just sunk a go-ahead free throw in the waning second of overtime. They'll recognize momentum changes, too. Fans will get all pumped and start cheering louder as the home squad starts mounting a comeback. The increased emphasis on audio is also tickling down to the players, as u will now hear teammates call for the ball and bark at you to shoot the rock.

                              The Courts:
Attend any real pro basketball game and you'll see the courts surrounded with spandex-clad cheerleaders, cameramen, security guards, and annoying team mascots. The sidelines are coming to life. You can collide with these people too. The plan is that if u dive for the ball and crash into one of the cameramen the game will show an instant replay from that camera.

                              The Gameplay:
Due to technical limitations, physical play, such as applying pressure D or contesting a layup, has never looked very pretty on today's consoles. Either it seems like there's a thin invisible wall between the 2 players, or even worse, one will literally go through the other's torso or stretched-out arms. We are now using real physics to determine collisions. This means players can really get tangled up. If body parts hit, it will interrupt the offensive player's fight path to the basket. So definently expect a rougher brand of basketball in the next generation
