          Re: Player Ratings at IGN

I'm definitely not familiar with EA's way of doing the ratings. I'm not too keen on the ratings. Of course, I will wait until the season begins before I am heard as a *****. I'm pretty sure that VC definitely will get it wrong too. Lebron is a 95. Interesting....

I like how you can really see the difference between superstars and great players.

I'm looking through the ratings, and I will post some interesting individual ratings after I'm done.

Shawn Marion a 91???? Did anyone else see the spurs suns playoff series? The guy was non-existent, didn't do jack. No way a superstar rated player would ever dissapear in a playoff series. EA should be shot.

No way Marion is better than Stoudamire...NO WAY!!!

Let alone the fact that according to EA, Steve Nash must have been the 4th best Sun!?!? OK!?!? He was the freakin MVP and main reason for their turnaround. How do you put Joe Johnson (an above average player) ahead of him? If they have Iverson up there, then Nash shouldn't be too far behind! At least barely ahead, or right behind Jason Kidd? That's straight messed up!

Im telling you EA don't know Basketball. Probably because Nash doesn't dunk they think he can't play. I mean MVP how many mediocre players have earned that award??

The only other Suns player that should be rated higher than Nash is Stoudemire.

                        Re: Player Ratings at IGN

Well you have to consider how the ratings are weighted, Nash is non-existant on defense, and not much in the athleticism area. Marion is 10 times the athlete [speed, quickness, jumping], steals [2+], blocks, grabs double-digit rebounds, and he has a huge difference in dunk rating. Nash is a better shooter, passer, scorer, and ball handler, the margins between Nash's better areas are not as much as those of Marions.

Also you have to remember than Nash didn't win on big numbers, he won MVP on the wins his team had and his offensive impact. In 03-04, you wouldn't even be argung this, Marion puts up 19-21 PPG, 9-10 RPG, 2-3 APG, 2 steals, 1+ blocks, can jump out of the gym, is a highflyer, is a good defender, and is an okay shooter. Nash gives 16-18 PPG, 3-4 RPG, last year 11 APG, doesn't steal or block, isn't a jumper, can't dunk, and is a non-factor on defense. Those insignificant ratings in terms of how good the guy is in the game, but ones that affect their overall rating are what make the difference.

Nash was not any better than he was on Dallas, just on a team that fitted him more, all you could do is make his pass rating go higher. What do you expect them to do give him a 99 defensive awareness so his overall rating get's higher? Remember these rating aren't position based.

Exactly. Look at his individual ratings, not his overall.

But there is still now way players like Jason Richardson and Marbury should be higher ranked than Dirk, Steve Nash, and Jermaine O'neal.
Just wait till Arsenal moves into Emirates Stadium.
