Re: If you are on the fence about this game

Played the final game yet? Nope, didn't think so...

I thought the same from the video's and unlike 2K6 clips where I took the time to explain why I didn't like certain things, I totally dismissed Live. I said it was the same old NBA Live Street, had a chuckle and skipped downloading the next 10 clips and clicking the next 50 screens.

Then it comes out early, I buy it because I can and I am totally shocked. Monk/Court Vision is saying the same things and he has preferred 2K games (and Inside Drive) over Live most years.

        Admiral50,

I don't know about others but I have a copy of Live '06 and still cannot see the difference between it and '05. All the problems '05 had are back in '06 with a few added ones. The game is fun, I don't deny that. I love the 2K series but I always buy both to see how the industry improves. I do recommend '06 to anyone that enjoyed '05, and I still recommend it to those who felt/feel on the fence. But if you simply totally disliked '05, I could never recommend this one.

Three main basketball problems for me with LIVE05.

          1. No fast breaks = fixed for 06.

          2. Players and teams were all the same...there was no difference between Kobe and LA compared to Ray Allen and the Sonics = completely fixed and impleneted very well for 06, much to my surprise.

          3. No play sets in 05 = again, fixed in 06 and done well.

So, all three main issues for me = fixed.

If you want to say the game is "the same", that's your right...but i don't see how the hell anyone could say it's the same game when the core basketball elements are completely different.

            --fans Court Vision down--

lol. down boy. playing the demo, this game is different. i'm a big fan of both and will be getting both this year. the fastbreaks in this game was enough for me to buy it but EA has touched on some others things that has made the game better. i think if LIVE had the same if not, better grfx than 2k6, this discussion would not accur. its obvious EA has been listen to us, and though it has taken 4 years for them to make a quality bball game since LIVE 2000, it seems as though they have. i've yet to play the final build (my instincts tell me i will have it on tuesday), then i will know for sure. but this game looks like a winner...
I am glad I got the Buell- I love riding it, I love the oddball looks I get on the road- I love people asking "What IS that thing?" I love flying into a corner WAY too hot, scared spitless and sure I'll never hold it at this speed- and hearing the bike whisper "Sissy!"...

Sorry but if you're the same battousaiken he lied through his a$$ two years in a row about having 2K early and all that junk then I'll choose to ignore.

It's only out on PC, so take a screenshot to show us... then play the game for more than an hour.

And if you're not that goose, then you're a terrible judge, because things did change. It's amazing what a few changes, along with some superb animation can do to an average game. And while on that, it's amazing what superb animation can do to average models...

wow that video just did nothing for me, I hate the player modles in LIVE, there really is no true player scalling,. Everyone looks bascily the same size and skinny. Oh well thats just my opinion.

Re: If you are on the fence about this game

The one thing that I hate about this game is the horrible full speed catch up behind the back BLOCKS on a good dunker.

This was in ncaa 2004 and still in Live 06?

This game forces tight contest by making you miss easy baskets or allowing blocks when the shooter clearly has the shoot or lane in the hole. Plus Amare was jumping thru everybody with the pro-hop then scoring.

I know he dominates in the league but not jumping right left then Dunking. He looked like Dominique with his whodini pro-hops. The game feels like live 05 but I like the icon shooting.

That vid looks great - I have to say it's the first Live 06 video I've been impressed with; didn't notice any skating and the breaks and animations looked awesome. The problem with it is it's one of those EA highlight vids, so it SHOULD look good.

I'm really on the fence as to whether to get Live or not. I've been reading the impressions of the few guys that have the game and the demos and I'm wondering if there's going to be a difference in the console versions and the PC version. If I'm not mistaken Pared said last year that the PC version was considerably better than the console versions. So I don't want to sit here and hear all these glowing reports of this and that being fixed, pick up a copy for the PS2 (because I'm getting 2K6 for the XBox) and be disappointed. I played the demo, and wasn't very impressed. It looks/plays better than last year, but it's not WAY beyond last year's game.

The miniature player models, awkward looking contested layup anims/lack of rebounding anims, and the bad camera angles are still huge issues to me. The commentary sucks, or at best, rates a C-minus. I also think for whatever reason, both games will be compared unfairly. I could be wrong, but even in the early going it seems 2K is going to be under a microscope, where the people that have Live seem overjoyed that the gameplay is enjoyable and doesn't completely suck. STILL no fatigue in online games? That's ridiculous - and yet no one criticizes it. People are still saying "It's a ton of fun online". I'm seeing people criticize 2K (Admiral) for the lack of MORE player tendencies, yet don't see that same expectation level for Live. Perhaps Live already has these things and I'm just not aware of it. I could be wrong, and apologize if I am. Live get's a 9.0 from IGN (taken with a grain of salt because of the reviewer) when it's mentioned if you want a realistic game this isn't the way to go... I don't have to have the game, and I'm not looking to freely give EA my money given the climate in sports gaming today. But yeah, I'm definitely on the fence with it.
HBO's "The Wire" should rank as one of the top 10 shows EVER on tv - period

I got the game a few days ago and I definately agree.

I'm also completely fine with people stating "the game is the same, etc" and it's a vaild opinion..............only if you've played the final copy.

I read all these very critical posts on Live when the majority of those haven't touched the game except for an unfinished demo.

Get the game, rent it or whatever but give it some time before being critical about something you haven't experienced yet.

At the moment, Admiral and CV's words should be taken as the only legit ones. We've known them for long enough to know what they're like with their Basketball games.

                      That's all.

I'm still on the fence because I hate live's scripted gameplay. If that's in the game, then this game is probably not for me regardless of its improvements.
