Good question. Last year's NBA Live and NBA2K5...were quite interesting. IMO, I felt NBA2K5 played more as a simulation...while NBA Live played more as arcade style (easier to score...less overall realistic feel). My son liked Live and I liked 2K5

I dont know anything about 2K6 yet, but I'm pretty sure I'll be buying Live 2006 tomorrow for my son.

If the kid is 14 or so, get him LIVE 06, 2k6 has a learning curve and is a SIM.

yeah i went to the NBA store for the debut. It was a made house in there. I never did buy the game, i just went to see the stars.
