How do you actually RUN a play?

I know how to call a play. I even know how to click R to see where I'm supposed to start the play at. But what comes after that? Am I supposed to pass to the right or to the left? Is the play designed for me to penetrate and then kick out? What's up? Anybody know the answer to this? Thanks in advance.

with the PS2 version you are basically stuck with the quick plays or hope to discover a few plays while playing , since the diagrams are not animated. And that, ladies and Gentlemen, is one of the biggest flaws i´ve ever seen in a sportsgame. I mean, how in the world can you do a basketball game without showing the user the plays ????

They are pretty basic plays because that all that is run in the nba. Playmaker is doing something on his thread that will explain the plays a little clearer. Also you can click the right stick and it will show you will the pg should start with the ball, hope that helps.

thanks, i also found a way now that would have saved me trouble. I just started a game on rookie and when you call a play those signals you meant come by default. And since it´s rookie you can practice them allright (i also turned down the shotclock to take my time )

How do you make the plays show up on the gamecube version?

what signals, the signals that come up when you right click on the Xbox? If so, then that just tells you where to go stand to start the play. It doesn't tell you who to pass it to and when.

Thats a good idea. I might mess with that a little tonight.

Yeah, the "signals" are pretty weak. But on some plays, it'll show you who to pass to. The only one I know off the top is OPTIONS. A little star on the right side corner of the 3 pt. line will appear and either your SG or SF will be there. Sometimes he's open, sometimes he's not.

Somebody started this thread and I hope to post in it later. Should defenitly help people out. http://forums.operationsports.com/vB...d.php?t=144638

those were enough for me, i just needed to get the start of it. I just run the plays several times and looked where the players would move, where they ended up and then i started really running them by passing the ball where it seemed it should be passed . Most plays also aren´t designed for more than 1 or maybe 2 passes it seems.
And basically every play also gives you alternative solutions, f.e. a guy that set a screen getting open for a midrange shot etc. Or on a play designed for a shooter you can just pass to the shooter before that and you have him under the basket and then you have options : try to finish it or pass to the open man when a big man comes to help .
Just try to run them on rookie and shotclock off and see where your players move.

That's what I have been trying to tell people. They are not that complex. In the nba you don't have enough time to run elaborate plays. Most will start with a pick on top or baseline screen and its just to get a guy open for a shot or to make a play. In college you have time to run plays that set a screen for a guy that is designed for him to pass and not shoot. I hope I explained that clear enough if not I can elaborate.

Just double tap on your dpad and you would see there the play that you're running and press down on your right thumbstick (xbox).
