So 2k is a better sim?

I've done that alley oop off that backboard, its pretty cool. I was playing someone online last night with the Nets. I was running the break with J Kidd and lobbed one up to Richard Jefferson, he did a 360 and caught the ball with two hands and jammed it. It was awesome. Running with the Nets you can either lob it up to Vince or RJ, its great.

That is what was wrote by someone in the impression forum of 2k6.
Now is that the definition of a sim to 2k6 fans.

It should be said that I have and enjoy both games. I just think its funny that all over the 2k forum they are talking about how live is arcadey and 2k is much more realistic. Is that what is meant by realistic. When is the last time you seen somebody do that in a nba game?

Re: So 2k is a better sim?

I'll see for myself when I play some more this weekend. Only got a half in yesterday w/ a friend.

Where it shined was in presentation: the crowds, commentary from sideline reporters, replays and cutscenes really gave the game a TV feel.

And then I noticed some quirks, like players sometimes gliding across the ground for a foot or two when making contact with one another, dunks where the players hands are not actually touching the rim, and the general lack of spacing on the court. If this stuff was in Live, it would be preached from the mountain tops. But "mums" the word when its in 2k....

Anyway, I love this games graphics an presentation, hands down. But I'll be watching closely at the players to see if they actually run plays better than they do in Live.

The way it is on these boards, some games are just "villianized" from the jump, while VC is considered the "people's hero." Truth be told, some of it is warranted, but in this case, with Live, people bashing it for "arcade play" are just wrong. The game can be bashed, but not for arcade play.

i have played over 30 games, around 5 with the Nets, and i've NEVER seen this. i've got the controls down pat. the thing with LIVE, is the superstar abilities ruins the game, where you can do these things when ever you please...
I am glad I got the Buell- I love riding it, I love the oddball looks I get on the road- I love people asking "What IS that thing?" I love flying into a corner WAY too hot, scared spitless and sure I'll never hold it at this speed- and hearing the bike whisper "Sissy!"...

Sirjam, which game do you prefer. I want to know your opinion cause I know you've played a lot of both games and I know that you don't show any bias towards one particular game.

freestyle effectiveness slider will decrease superstar abilities. Other than that, I don't know what to tell you.

Steve's beta videos of 2K6 CPU vs. CPU showed Jason Williams throwing an alley off the glass in the 1st Quarter on a 3-on-3 break.

It's one thing if a 12 year old does that online. It's another thing if the CPU does it.

This thread is probably a flame but I've seen the same things pass in the 2K6 forum.

I laugh at the word "sim". People just love using that word to justify their purchase. Alot of times it just boils down to how you yourself play the game. How you pace yourself and show patience. Because both games have some over-the-top action but 2K6 never gets called out for it.

Yeah...There's no specific button to do the alley off the glass in 2k6. I know in practice mode in live, if you press down on the right stick, you can throw it off the glass. But in 2k6, the alley oops are preety unrealistic and I have seen some off the glass.

Sirjam, you are taking what I said and one or two plays of online game way out of context my man. For you to come in here and try to stir up some kind of flame war over one or two plays in a online game is ridiculous. Play what you want to play man, I just thought I'd let you know that your are taking what I said way overboard and what your implying couldn't be any further from the truth. At times you can do crazy things in both games but overall imo 2k is more of a sim but it also depends on each individuals play style in each game, take care.
