I'm thinking about buying NBA Live 06 for the Xbox (probably won't be getting XBox 360 until after the holidays at the earliest). I'm still playing Madden, but I'm DYING to play some BBall. Is it any better than 2005, and it it worth my 50bones????

if you want an arcade type basketball, then buy it.if you want the most realistic bb game, then get nba2k6."You probably heard we ain't in the prisoner-takin' business; we in the killin' Nazi business. And cousin, business is a-boomin'." - Lt. Aldo Raine- -

I'm just assuming that your Live fan, and since I am as well, that's the only perspective I can give you.
It's better than '05. The Superstar moves add to the game, as do plays that have your CPU teamates moving around.
One thing, though - DYNASTY MODE STILL STINKS. But the gameplay is still NBA Live and, to me, still fun.
So, if you've liked playing Live in the past, you'll enjoy this game.
People are goning to say "It's not a sim", "It's an arcade game", "2k6 is so much better" and other various ways to say "blah blah blah", but it's NBA Live! It wouldn't be NBA Live if it modeled itself after 2k. BTW, Live isn't an arcade game...NBA Jam was an arcade game.Last edited by JiggidyJames; 11-08-2005, 09:07 AM.xbl gamertag: jiggidyjames72Comment

My thought process was much like yours initially but Live can play some very good basketball if you have correct sliders. I prefer Playmakerssetup with tweaks to fit my skill. In fact I have both games and at first I enjoyed 2K's game but it became very stale afterahwile. I play LIve much more and it's been exciting and fun. I don't care if it's les SIM than 2K it's been much more entertaing compared to their offering over the long haul. AS for the original poster I would say this game is worth a purchase if you enjoyed previous Live games.Comment

I haven't played this year's yet, but last year's was very realistic to me. The fluidity and control response over 2K is what I think made Live better. It was the best NBA game I've played since the 2K series originally came out (while Live was butt awful!). It seems like 2K has regressed the last three years or so.After more than eight years on here, I finally figured out how to edit my time zone!Comment

i too purchased both games and at the beginning i was ready to trade live but i find myself giving it a try playing against some of my friends and now to me live has a lot more to offer then 2k6 i feel like the 2k6 game gets boring after awhile because it just doesn't have lots of things you can do on offense it's just the same moves all over again and again.UP IN WASHINGTON HEIGHTS!Comment

Is this game challenging? I have NBA 2k6 and I find it to be somewhat easy and although stats are realistic, My playing style isn't because its just too easy to drive to the hoop. Is it too easy in NBA live? Also, are stats realistic? or will one player have over 50 points or 20 assists or 20 rebounds? I like the realistic stats part about 2k6, but if Live is more fun, i might get it.Comment

I think Playmakers lowered Free-Style Effect, Dunking Frequency, Pro Hop and Shooting Sliders to make it feel better overall.Comment

Hmm...
I figured i get some insight, because I have both 2K5 and live from last year - it took a while for 2K5 to grow on me, but there were too many annoying bugs. Live bothered me so much at first that I almost never played it. But once I set it up for press cam view and got over the subpar graphics, it wasn't bad.Atlanta Falcons Atlanta Braves Los Angeles Lakers

My suggestion is to rent one or both of them. Nobody can tell you if a game is for you or not. If you liked Live last year, you'll more than likely like it this year. Just give it a rent, and see

After six weeks with the game...I can't reccommend it. The cons outweigh the pros. PM me if you want an in-depth explination. But after six weeks, I was enjoying Live 05 better, despite the lack of fast-break AI.Unofficial OS Ambassador of "CPU vs. CPU"
