Vets of Live won't need the pro hop, though, since the defensive A.I. is so suspect. Scoring is merely a matter of running around the defense while holding Turbo until you get a step on your defender and hammering on the dunk button for an almost guaranteed layup/dunk/foul. Live has always been a bit more arcadey than other NBA games, but it's almost ridiculous how easy it is to score here. Jump shots are only necessary when they're behind the arc, and tweaking the difficulty doesn't seem to affect the overall defensive woes much.

Meanwhile, the offensive A.I. pushes the hell out of the ball regardless of the team. You expect such running and gunning from, say, the Heat, but not on every play. If you miss a rebound, you better get your *** back on defense because they will not wait for you to catch up. That applies to the half-court game as well, as guards and forwards drive the lane incessantly. Apparently the CPU knows how easy it is to dunk, too.

Monk, you'd rip this game a new one if you had the chance to play it...

It wouldn't be your cup o' tea, IMO.

Man, I feel like im the only one who really enjoys this game. I had realistic expectations and i didnt expect this game game to be the next coming. I have started my franchise and every game i feel like I enjoy more than the last......i know it has its problems, but i feel like its a solid game and can be a great game in the future......i dropped my coin on it...and do not regret it for a second....just my opinion though

Shouldn't it be "the next coming"?

This is supposed to be the Next Generation. Major enhancements are expected.

I was expecting the same step for xbox - xbox 360 as there was from PS1 to PS2. If the graphics aren't going to be dramatically different, at least have some revoultionary gameplay and character interactions.

We didn't get this, though. Instead we got less than what we had before.

i downloaded the demo and after 20 secs of playing it, i deleted it from my harddrive. AWFUL AWFUL GAME!

So in short, Live 360 has more flaws than 2K6 360. Fact. But it also is far more ambitious and is the first game in a long time to take large steps towards making basketball games as a whole better. There's nothing at all safe about this game, and as a result the finished product is raw, unpolished and lacking depth -- but it's also one of the most "next-gen" and exciting games you can play right now on 360. Live 360 is something new and feels like what you should be getting when you buy a next-gen game. Once this game gets polished over the next few years, it's scary how good it could be.

heres a good review for live at 1up, they liked liv ebtter than 2k6
least theres sumone out there that aint hating cuz of the lack of features

This is the first time I can remember being this critical of an EA Sports game. If this were a first generation Playstation game I would give it some slack. But this is the Xbox 360, the next-generation of games. And NBA Live '06 is so full of problem areas that it wouldn't even really pass for an Xbox game.

Honestly, I downloaded the demo, and I wouldn't take a full copy of the game for free. But, I do keep it on my hard drive to let my friends try it out when they come over. So far, everyone's eyes light up when it first comes on, and then they frown when they see the players move. Robotic, cartoonish, stiff, are some of the words that have been said in regards to Live's play. I don't see where EA is stepping up and delivering grand new features that will help bball games as a whole. The loading screen mini-game feature is cool, but is no more useful than the crib in my opinion. There is absolutely nothing about Live that I liked. And, that's a bad thing because I played nothing but Live back in the snes days. It's just plain bad now...I know EA can't wait for next year.

Hogfan, i understand completely what you are saying........I just feel like when i put this game into my system, even with it being stripped down and having camera prblems......I still enjoy it more than the past incarnations of live...I used to buy live every year and 2/3 weeks later I would trade it it for 2k4...5...6...I did it his year...on my ps2....but I will not trade this in for 2k6...although I still may buy 2k6....bottomline.....imo, i am having the most fun on an nba game than I have with any other nba game previous....now it may be because I am older.......but i dig on the game brother

I'm sorry, but there are problems with LIVE360 that I can't understand as to how EA let this out the door. I'm not talking or complaining about missing features, which I can care less about. The game may look incredible, but there are issues on court that not even MJ could fix with this one.

It's a shame that a game like this that was in development for a long time has turned to this.

That is very, VERY well put.

The demo stays on my hard drive b/c I want my friends to see it.. and let them make their own conclusion.

So far, 2/2 said take it off and let's play some more 2k6....

You should had been playing Tecmo NBA on the SNES :P The live series on the 16 bit console was a write off -- the EA Vs. series was really good though (on the Genesis).
