    Free Throw Tips.....

I'm in desperate need of some tips here, I haven't made ONE free throw.
I always wanted to be somebody, but I should have been more specific!

    Re: Free Throw Tips.....

Brim, I have played about 8 to 9 games so far, and this is what I have come up with. The first 3 or 4 games I hit about 10/15% of my shots, and I used to pull the stick all the way down and push it all the way up with as much fluidity as possible......I still sucked......so I started my franchise with the Cavs and instead of pulling the stick all the way down, I pulled it about3/4 the way down and pushed it back up as fluid as posible. I am now hitting about 70 to 80% with good players and 40 to 60% with really bad players. I actually dont even look at the screen when I an shooting, I look down at the controller to make sure I am straight up and down....hope this helps, it took me some time, but it has gotton alot better

I had the same problem but found that if you pull down then push it up quickly you get better results. It's hit or miss though but before i was coming up front rim on every shot ...way too difficult though

I gotta say, I don't see what the big deal is with the free throw system. All the reviews complained about it being so hard, but all it takes is some decent rhythm and consistancy. In my last game here with the Heat, I went 12-12, including 4-4 with Shaq. I just keep a nice rhythm (down - middle - up), making sure the right stick is pulled back the same amount of time it's pushed up. If you watch that on-screen example they show once in a while, thats basically the exact timing you should use. Do it just like they show and you're money

The biggest problem with the free throws is you can't practice them. I like the challenge of it, but I cannot get a rhythm going because I don't shoot enough free throws during a game. I wish they added a free throw option to the loading screen.

You push up right before the ball reaches your head. This is the best tip I got from these boards and it works.

I must have went 5 for 30 shooting FT's in 3 games. I think it will take more time compared to the old FT system.

There is an example on screen like your first 3 or 4 Freethrows when you first start shooting them. It's nothing big, but it does kind of show you how they expect you to do it.

I used to be horrible, but my motions were jerky. Know, when I just calm down and make it one fluid motion, I usually sink around 84-85% as a team, which is excellent. In a tight game, I usually blow a few of them because I get too nervous and I think about it too much. You just really have to have a fluid movement. As soon as the ball gets down to his ear, push the stick back up a little quicker than you pulled it down. Not too quick, or you'll brick the shot, but not too slow, or you'll end up short.

In the manual it says to push up right when the ball gets to his forehead. Also if I don't sign in and load my settings, will I be able to see this example of how to shoot free throws in the game?

The freethrow system is quite interesting. After u get it, u will say it may one of the best, because if u are nervous u will miss, but if u stay calm the results come. Now on how to make them. First the free throw shooter of coarse has be good. After that is established. The key is looking at the animation. Hold the RT down, when the shooter bring the ball up, quickly push the RT up, before he brings the ball up all the way. This creates a fuild up and shoot motion. (hope this helps)
