    Just had a great game...

Hey guys, I have been doing PM's player ratings adjustments, and finally have got through Miami... so I decided to take a test run... Cleveland vs Miami.

It started out, first possession of the game with Lebron going in to "Z", who immediately draws the first foul on Shaq... About 4 minutes later (8 minute quarters), Lebron draws #2 on Shaq. Dwayne Wade, instantly takes over the ball game. At the end of the first, it was 26-25 in favor of Miami.

Quarter 2 gets under way, Shaq still on the bench, but Miami makes a huge push, to stretch the lead out to around 15. I'd cut it to 10, but they'd make another run behind J-Will, 'Toine, and Wade. At the half, I was down by 11. Midway through the 2nd, I pick up the 3rd on Shaq, so he goes to the bench again, but they are still dominating me.

Open of the second half, I come out, and just dominate, holding the Heat to only 12 3rd quarter points, and take a 7 point lead. I was able to do this by drawing 4 fouls on Wade (2 offensive).

Fast forward to the fourth, I am up, but Wade comes back in, and takes the game over. With 5:34 left to play, they have opened up a 13 point lead. I change my defensive scheme, and start with a full court press, doubling the ball handler. I am able to reel off 9 unanswered points. But they push the lead back out to 8 with 1:45 to play. I clamp down on "D", and lure Shaq into an offensive foul, and a turnover by Walker, I was able to come back and take the lead by 2, only :47 to play.

Ensuing possession, J-Will comes down and buries the 3, taking the lead by 1. Lebron brings it up the floor, finds Flip, for the wide open 3 from the corner. Cavs lead by 2. With only :17 left to play, Miami calls a timeout. We are at Miami, so I figured that they would go for the win. As soon as the ball gets inbounded, I immediately foul Wade, sending him to the line, ensuring that I get the final possession of the game, at worst, going into OT. He hits both FT's, and I call the TO.

:14 Left on the clock, tie ballgame. I throw it in to Lebron, who holds it at midcourt. Wade picks him up. Lebron initiates the dribble, :07 remaining... He starts left... CROSSES RIGHT... breaks past Wade, splits O'neal and Haslem for the MONSTER SLAM! Cleveland 105-103 with :00.6 seconds left. J-Wills last second heave from 3/4 court, sails wide as Cleveland pulls off the upset in Miami.

Player of the Game, Lebron James: 30 points, 7 assists, 5 rebounds, 10/18 FG, 10/18 FT's... By far, my most enjoyable game of videogame hoops ever!

        That's some good stuff

If you play against Cleveland I also noticed that LeBron will post you up a few times with the playbook assigned to the Cavs by Playmakers. I also think that those types of games that WTF just played are more likely to happen on the all-star level. I tried to play on super-star but I just kept getting frustrated with the insane shots and runs that the computer would make when ever I had a lead. On the all-star level it just felt more realistic and had more control of the outcome of games. I know PM's say's that on super-star the computer plays smarter but I just think they cheat to often. For here on out it's strictly all-star for me.

Nice break down wtf that's why I keep playing live now.

Yeah, I only play on All-Star on any sports game. I don't want to have to resort to cheap tactics to win. The gameplay on All-Star with PM's edits, is completely awesome. This is by far the best basketball game that I have played after the edits. Out of the box, this game stunk. But after hours of tweaking, it is one heck of a game. I'm off to play at "The Q". I'm going to give them a rematch.

Re: Just had a great game...

Alright, just got finished with my Home/Home series with Miami. You all know how it went down on South Beach, but how would Cleveland fare against the Heat at home?

It was apparent that Mike Brown had done nothing but watch the game tape, and break it down.

"When going over the tape, I seen how vulnerable the paint was, and how wide spread our (defense) was." Coach Brown explained. "We went in to practice, and put all of our focus on stopping Wade from getting to the hoop, and forcing him to give it up."

"He's an explosive player, and if you give him the room, he can make for a long night."

So the Wine & Gold came out in the opening period, with one goal in mind. Stopping Dwayne Wade, and doubling him whenever they got the chance. Within the first 4 minutes of the quarter, Wade went to the bench, drawing 2 offensive fouls. Meanwhile, O'neal kept Miami in the game by reeling off 3 straight Monster Dunks, one being a ferocious tip slam that shook "The Q".

The game stayed tight up until the 2 minute mark in the 2nd quarter, when Cleveland went on a 12-0 push behind 2 3 Point FG's for Lebron James, and 3 FG's by Flip including an acrobatic layup to push the lead to 11. At the half, Cleveland lead, 55-44.

"We did a good job in containing D-Wade, forced a lot of turnovers, and were able to capitalize on them." Lebron replied, when asked how they were able to build a lead on the Heat. "We just have to come out in the second half, and keep the pressure, and play smart basketball."

"As a team, this is the most efficient that we've played since I was drafted in 03... we shot 53% from the floor, missed a few gimme's, but overall, coupled with only 1 turnover, we played our game."

With one half out of the way, the teams went back at it. The third quarter started with Miami coming out, and making a push to get back into the game. Stellar play of J-Will and O'neal cut the defecit to 6 points 2 minutes into the quarter. Wade, who was playing with 3 fouls, came in and scored 6 points in the early part of the half, before picking up a crucial, and costly 4th personal which would send him back to the bench. The Cavaliers turned up the heat and made 6 unanswered, to take the lead back to 11 to end the 3rd.

The fourth quarter was more of the same, as O'neal made his last effort to get his ball club back in the game, scoring 11 points on a variety of hooks, dunks, and even a free throw. But it just simply wasn't enough, as Lebron James propelled the Cavaliers with a triple double, getting the win 104-88.

            Player of the game? Lebron James- 30 Pts, 5/7 3Point FG, 12/21 FG's, 12 rebounds, 11 assists.

That looks like something out of a newspaper article. Another good recap by you overall. I'm just curious though how many minutes are you playing per quarter because I play 8 minutes but my scores are very rarely close to 100 points. Usually it's in the mid 80's to low 90's. For instance today I played Seattle vs Los Angeles me being the Lakers and won 87-82. The Sonics usually score close to 100 points in real life so I'm wondering if maybe 9-10 minute quarters might get me closer to realistic stats.

I don't think any team would foul a guy to put him on the line to tie the game. it makes no sense. you basically gave them 2 points and then had to make a basket instead of them making a basket.

no coach would do that and last long.

you gut lucky with that plan.

I've actually scene this strategy a few times since I'm a huge Mavs fan. Don Nelson used to emply this strategy vs the Lakers. It was called "Hack a Shaq" because he felt the best way to slow down down Shaq was to put him on the FT Line......

This year the Mavs did the samething to Bruce Bowen and it wasn't until Bowen proved he make a ft that they stopped intentially fouling him.

So, there are some coaches that will use this tactic vs certain players.
                  ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Check this out Don Nelson in the 2003 WCF vs Spurs used this tactic for about 3:00 late in a close game vs Bowen.

A big part of that comeback was Nelson's strategy to have one of his reserves intentionally foul Bowen, a 38 percent foul shooter during the postseason. The Mavericks did it five times within seven possessions, with Bowen making only half of his 10 attempts.

"We knew they were going to do it, but we didn't take him out. He was 5-of-10, but he did hit his last three,'' Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said.

Re: Just had a great game...

Well, think about it... I didn't want to give J-Will an opportunity to knock down a 3, and send me home with a loss, so foul him, let him hit 2 free throws, and then worst case scenario, we go to Over Time. Why wouldn't a coach do that? I coach... does that mean I shouldn't do that? You better bet that if that type of situation presents itself, and they have a player getting hot from beyond the arc, then I'll be fouling.

And thanks realdeal, I enjoy writing them out like that. I am playing on 8 minute quarters I believe. My speed is around 87 though... so if you are playing on a lower speed, that could be what the deal is. When I was playing strictly with PM's sliders, then I would change it to 10 minutes/quarter... but with my hectic schedule, I just couldn't allot that much time anymore.
