    Anyone know?

I'm havin' trouble running my offensive plays.

Can anyone tell me how to get them started? Do I just get my PG into position and wait for the players to run the set?

Like Stagger 1, I select the play, I then get Hinrich to the top of the key and move him right along the arc. But the rest of my players aren't even taking up their positions, let alone running the set.

Is there a button to be pressed to initiate teh play like in the PS2 version?

    Cheers in advance fellas ...

Seems like for me sometimes they get into position other times they can't be arsed ...

      Re: Anyone know?

Their is a play diagram on main menu section under each teams playbooks. It's shows you the movement of each player posistion. I know most of the plays you call start with the Pg either passing right or dribbling right to start the play out high from about the top of the arc.

Since I play with Dallas I specifically use only 4-6 plays that I can remember how to run. Afetr about 3-5 games and watching the player movements every time you run a play it will start to work like clockwork as to where your cutters and screeners are coming from.

I think that's why EA listed the QUICK PLays as the first 3 plays Post up, ISO and 3-Pointer because those plays were easier for the human player to run and read. Notice they have the actual set plays listed as the bottom 3 plays. That's because in game you don't have a diagram to show you how the plays work unless you studied the plays before you started a game.

That is why at DEFAULT setup the CPU only runs the QUICK PLAYS because EA has it programmed that way as if a human player was just picking up the game and playing right away.

So, basically when you first layed your hands on NBA Live both you and the CPU if you weren't fast breaking you were running a quick play which is just basic ordinary basketball plays.

Thanks PM. I nominate you for some kind of award.

Why do u reckon sometimes they don't run the plays? I'm using all the Zone plays as a starter (they seem to be a little easier to remember and involve alot of perimeter shots ad screens and open looks). Sometimes my players don't get into position, or the SG &SF will line up on the wrong side or not run their pattern ... Could it be dependant on the shot clock? Or could it be when I select the play? When do you select your play your wanting to run?

Sometimes I select the play while I'm running up court with my PG of SG, other times its when I set up in their zone and I haven't seemed to nitice any real difference to its regularity.

Anyways man, thanks again for that!!

I always call a play just as I cross center court. I waite until I see each player setup in a base box set then I call play and watch them move right after I drive my PG to the right or pass the ball to the right to the man who was popping up on the wing.

As for Zone plays I'm guessing they might not run them everytime because the CPU teams aren't playing any Zone Defenses in this game. In the XBOX and PS2 game I found away to make the CPU switch up their defense all game. But in the 360 version they won't play any Zone unless you select the play for them by using two controllers at the start of the game.

Ah. That's very interesting. That sounds like my problem then. I have a stagger 5 set in my playbook which runs everytime. I couldn't for the love of god figure out why some plays were running and others not.

            I think you're onto something.

I'll look into it and get back to you.
