Teams Running Plays, Screens, Spacing etc..

well last night i finally started up a season with nba live 06 (playmakers rosters, settings, and edits) and played 2 full games. i'm 0-2 with the cavs. got blown out by 30 against the hornets and got beat by 7 against the spurs.

all i can say is WOW about teams running plays, setting screens, and spacing the floor. now i like both 2k6 and live 06 but it seems that the floor is more spread open on live compared to 2k6. i'm actually having a blast playing both. i have seasons going side by side now.

ok basically just wanted to mention how great this game plays in reguards to teams running plays etc. (all thxs to playmakers that is )

Hey, I'm using the Cavs Classic team he put together and completely agree with your assessment. He did a great job with the playbooks and getting the players to respond almost true life. I've played non-stop since getting his latest rosters and settings.

The spacing was already there by EA.

I think they did a great job on that aspect of the game. They just didn't spend enough time tweaking the gameplay. They rushed it out the door big time that's for sure.

But there are so many set plays you can get the CPU to run it just takes many hours of tweaking the players.

Hopefully next year EA assigns some guy's to strictly work on the AI to perform properly right out the box. They need to also make those quick plays become second options not the basic plays for all teams because it makes people think the CPU doesn't run plays.

They are on the right track they just need to spend more time testing the actual gameplay on the court. Once they get the gameplay down I think Live will really take off on the 360 and PS3. I'd hate to have to go through all this tweaking again next year just to get the game to function right.

That was my point to bigeast in my last thread. They seemed as though they would do this after Live 04 and didnt, and still didnt this year.

I dont trust EA in that aspect. They seem pretty lazy and nonchalant because people like you can do it yourself.

          Playmakers,

Is editing the players "essential" to making the (teams) run plays? Because I have the quick plays at the bottom for each team but, I still get the cpu running pick n rolls and post up quick plays for the most part.

Although I didnt edit this one, I would say yes. It was the same way with Live 04 when i had to edit it, and im sure they didnt change that one bit

Yeah you have to edit the ratings or else they won't pass the ball. They take quick shots primarily the SG's, SF's and PG's.

Once you edit the ratings down you'll see them give you more ball movement and run set plays.

You have to flip the plays upside down by putting the QUICK PLAYS on the bottom and the set plays up top then they will cycle through the set plays that are listed in their playbooks.

Without the edits it's good for head to head play only if you have buddies that like they to play SIM style ball. But if your playing the CPU only they will frustrate you by not doing anything but jacking up 3's and fast breaking.

Think Phoenix Suns style basketball and you have Live 06 right out of the box.
