Why should I pick Live 06(xbox) over 2K6?
I have nba 2k6 right now and its alright. not anything really special. the isomotion3 is really like a fighting combo game. its really hard to do nice moves and the animations fill locked in alittle bit. this goes for dunks, layups and everything else. With playmakers settings is live 06 really the best true to life nba game out there? gameplaywise? i know the grafx are decent as i have 720p. what does 2k6 do better for those who have both games......thanx alot guys.Tags: None -

Re: Why should I pick Live 06(xbox) over 2K6?
i played a full season with edits in live06 [360 version i am talking about]and had a great time with it. then 2k6 came out here [australia] so i assumed it would hold me over till the 07 bball games but after a full week of playing it... i took it back.
i simply enjoyed live more and found it heaps more intuitive and enjoy the total customisation control u have in live.
also a big turn off for me regarding 2k6 was that the game plays letterboxed on my 19" monitor with 720p or higher res. to play fullscreen u have to play on 480-640 which is UGGGLY. compared to the awesome graphics of live.
both games have some major faults. but for me personally. live was better suited to my set up and preferences.
2k6 pros:
heaps of gameplay features. [association, 24/7 etc].
good pace.
great atmosphere/presentation.
generally excellent cpu gameplay and A.I. teams run plays with more precision than live and a players tendencies isnt based on position which live is.
cons:
poor player models. [some players are wayy off]
clunky and overly complicated control system.
jumpshooting seems more chance than skill. thus the game leads to an inbalance in gameplay because-
scoring inside is too easy.
every player can cross up and spin. every player. no matter how stiff.
lack of customisation options, lack of editing freedom.
live06 pros:
awesome graphics.
great animations.
intuitive controls. far more so than 2k6's IMO.
solid gameplay [after edits].
the ability to customise nearly every aspect of the game/management etc.
cons:
even after edits. still leans a bit towards perimeter players.
a players tendencies are generally specified by position more so than attributes.
lack of gameplay options. bare bones season mode [which is fine by me as i dont play franchise/association].
requires hours and hours of edits [or pm's save files via transfer kit] to get good gameplay.
hope that helps.Last edited by nogster; 06-10-2006, 11:28 PM.Comment

Re: Why should I pick Live 06(xbox) over 2K6?
Both games have flaws and neither will be close to perfect. I purchased them both and played 2K6 (360) way more than Live 06 (360) for about the 1st 2-3 months. Then like many others here I followed playmakers work on the rosters and edits and starting enjoying Live 06 much better. I'm not going to go into detail as to why I prefer Live 06 now because I think that's more of a personal opinion. But the game is absolutely fun and very much playable if you download playmakers rosters (either one). This is for the 360 though and it might be different for regular XBOX. I know playmakers did a very good job on the XBOX version aswell without all the hassle of editing player ratings.Comment

bump. What about live's ball movement, cpu running plays, and ball handling system. Ive never owned a live game but i am thinkin about it even tho it is late in the season (NBA Finals). is the freestyles control really more playable and smooth?...thanx guysComment

Re: Why should I pick Live 06(xbox) over 2K6?
2k6 is far superior to live06 in regards to cpu tendencies and ballmovement. [again i am talking abou the 360 versions.] 2k6 playermovement in plays is faster and more realistic. 2k6 really beats live06 in how the cpu plays. even after the player edits are done which is a must for live06 to be playable.
but... on the flip side. live06 IMO is far superior to 2k6 in regards to user controls and gameplay.
live06's controls are much more intuitive and natural and the animations are superior too. 2k6 is so clunky and not as responsive as it shoudl be and also is limiting. lives controls just feel right. if u want to spin baseline from the post. simply let go of the post button and turn that way. not like 2k6 where u must make multiple button presses to do the simplist of basketball plays. etc. etc. its so clunky even for the most simple of moves. live06 also has player specific shooting animations which really add to the authenticity of the game. marion has his UGLY j. Dirk, joneal, allen, kg, etc etc.. they all have their own shooting styles. also. the cpu plays good D for the most part. switching and reading plays accordingly.
if we could combine 2k6's pace and cpu offensive ballmovement, cpu gameplay and tendencies with lives controls, user gameplay, graphics and animations. we would have a near perfect bball game.Last edited by nogster; 06-12-2006, 02:31 AM.Comment

Take a look at all the above post within this thread. Just about every single person gave a specific reason as to why or why not buy the game. Some of them even stated they've played both games and generally provided an unbias opinion. But this guy you get the feeling he's just trolling.
These are the type of guy's that serve no purpose if the best helpful information they can provide is non-sense like he just stated.Last edited by Latrell24; 06-14-2006, 02:49 AM.Comment

He talked about both versions of the game just like nogster did in his post. <!-- / message -->Comment

Re: Why should I pick Live 06(xbox) over 2K6?
I always tell guy's to rent it first then download the rosters and see if it's something you can enjoy.
There's alot of guy's getting the game for like $30-35 bucks now so that's not a bad alternative either.
My bad I just read where it says XBOX version. In that case don't worry about the download just find some good sliders and playbooks (CPU Team) and the game plays great IMO. The XBOX version doesn't need any drastic player edits. I think it plays a very good SIM style game after messing with the sliders and then the playbooks to make the CPU run plays to their top guy's. I had a blast with the PS2 version.Last edited by Playmakers; 06-21-2006, 07:09 PM.NCAA FOOTBALL 14 ALUMNI LEGENDS CPU vs CPU DYNASTY THREAD
