    EA/ESPN Integration

Like it or don't like it?

July 13, 2006 - At EA Studio Showcase, the next level of ESPN integration was displayed in NBA Live 07 for the Xbox 360, and it is finally something worth all the cash EA paid for this 15 year partnership. When online, not only will you have the ESPN ticker at the bottom of the screen updating you on the latest news and scores, but you will be able to listen to streaming podcasts of ESPN Radio, including Mike & Mike and The Dan Patrick Show.

    But that's only the beginning.

ESPN Original Programming is also in the mix, enabling you to back out of your game and watch shows like the latest Pardon the Interruption, all within NBA Live.

Play your Dynasty, watch for the big news to hit the ticker, then after your game check out Tony Kornheiser and Mike Wilbon as they debate the hot topic, only to go right back into your season.

This is what living a next-gen sports lifestyle is all about.

And it all starts with NBA Live 07.

Holy Crap!! If that's just the start, I'm definitely getting that joint. I don't know if they'll really surpass 2K with the implementation of the ESPN license but this sure as hell is a great start. I'm amazed at how wonderful it's sounding.

I really hope they have ESPN camera angles, scoreboard, and other in-game things because I don't have Xbox Live.

I don't really like it if this is all it really is.

I really want the ESPN style presentation, halftime shows, announcers, etc. like 2K did.

I play games in a room with a TV and a computer. I don't really need real life stuff in the game like that. I mean, I guess it would be nice to have, but that's not the direction I really want them to go in with the ESPN license.

Co-Sign. Why has NBA Live gotten less and less of a broadcast style presentation as the years go by? Its like with Madden and Nba Live, they want the games to go as quickly as possible so they get rid of all the replays camera cuts/cutscenes.

I don't simply because the ESPN annoucers suck!

I would prefer Marv Albert and Steve Kerr......that's the only thing about the ESPN license I hate because EA will most likely get that clown Bill Walton broadcasting games.

Too me ESPN announcers are the worst NBA announcers out there plain and simple.

You want to do it for Madden and NCAA Football by all means go ahead but for basketball it's a bad move by EA because those guy's all suck Tolbert, Walton, Breen, Brown and who ever calls their games.

                      Re: EA/ESPN Integration

                      ^ seems that way
They couldve expanded where the competition left off
-Instead of just newpaper game highlights, ala CH2kx for your team, why not create it for every team. Use the ESPN Intregration and have a top 5 plays of the week "show" with real highlights. (hell... you could expand that or make it as small as you want. Top play of the day, top play of the week. Top 5 plays of the year. Top 3 plays up until the AS break.)..

-Why not offer halftime highlights, and expand that to offer a 2-3 halftime show of other nba games that are in place. maybe just some stats and 2-3 gameplay videos.

Espn does all of that so they should be going that route.

Instead we get all these "extras". Extras to me is a statisitical archive or hall of fame player profiles, like the other EA games. None of their plans actually affect the game whatsoever.
Play your Dynasty, watch for the big news to hit the ticker, then after your game check out Tony Kornheiser and Mike Wilbon as they debate the hot topic, only to go right back into your season.
i mean unless the hot topic is about the ACTUAL gameplay or about other teams and games within your dynasty, than whats the point? If the radio shows and podcasts are all computerized too to give info about the nba than thats cool/ but I dont want to hear about nascar or see a ticker update about horse racing while playing.. hell i dont even care about the real nba when i play.. this stuff doesnt seem rellevant

I hate being negative, but there adding leather and heated seats to a car that needs a new suspension.

you know what, I want the halftime show and all of that myself.

at the same time it doesnt suck to have something new in the game.

at least they're thinking of new ways to put things in the nex gen games

That's kind of why I like it. I think that EA is taking the upgrading a little slow so that they can milk it for what it's worth. They might have the halftime replays in, but then again who knows. They might think it's needed for next year. I like how all this is. It's really creative which is something I like. They seem to have worked on the gameplay a bit. They even took the shot stick and molded it into their own thing which means they don't have anymore freestyle stick. I like what I'm seeing so far and they're holding something back of course. I'm sure they added some more things with the ESPN information on the real. Just giving them some time to break us all off. It is like their first "official" year with the ESPN license so I'll accept their laziness this once with the presentation. They did a miraculous turnaround form the last game. It's still early though. Almost 2+ months left before release.......

Of course they're holding something back, but you know EA will flog us with advertising when the time comes. Its their niche.

Maybe its just me, but the innovation is what im looking for. Im tired of ports, cheesy stiff mo cap, and the same issues that should be dead like sliding player models.

Its 2006. We have men in outer space. If they can do that with technology, i shouldnt have to keep getting cheap rehashes of things they made back in 2000
