Arent sig shots and fss counterintuitive?

By that i mean, if your character is a scorer(outside;inside) or shooter, that there would be no reason to do a regular jumpshot at all, especially when its obvious from the videos on here and ign that those moves still have a higher chance of going in.

Anyway, im still happy to see that ea brought the lockdown stick to live. Thats the best thing ea has come up with since freestyle dribbles.

Re: Arent sig shots and fss counterintuitive?

yeah i am not a fan of the FSS.
its just a gimmick. and IMO makes no sense really.
arent attributes meant to define whether a player is a star or not. not extra moves.
they should just go the 2k7 route and make signature styles. these ea gimmicks are getting old to me.
i want a legit sim experience.
but unfortunatley i live in australia and the 2k games are ALWAYS delayed by months here so i have no choice but to buy live games.
i really hope live07 is good.

All Free Style moves can be toned down by sliders.

I'm not sure why it's a big deal because the CPU doesn't abuse the moves it's the human players that abuse the FSS moves.

IF you don't want to use them they don't force human players to use the FSS moves. But anyways like I said in Live 06 for Current Gen the sliders did wonders for the effect of the FSS moves.

I love the idea because LBJ can turn into a playmaker, shooter or inside scorer which are all things that does well. It helps to make him unique in the game and if you assign him a combination of the of FSS styles when you play in a game vs the Cavs he'll be just that in the game. He'lll drive the ball draw defenders vs you then kick it out.

Re: Arent sig shots and fss counterintuitive?

I don't know, 2k7's Signature style seems more authentic to me.

Because in FSS all the players are assigned to that group, and play like that group. What I mean is that if Allen is a shooter, and so is Redd, what makes them different than eachother? Of course their sig shot.

But in 2k7, sigstyle allows them to be different by their tendecies, the way they move, all that.

Like if Kobe is a inside scorer, and Wade is too. What makes them different from eachother. I mean you can do all the same things you can do with Kobe that you could do with Wade. In 2k7 though, the way Wade dribbles will be different, the way he moves, he'll even have exclusive moves that only wade will do.

So while Live have moved its FSS ahead, 2k7's sig style seems like a whole year ahead. We will just have to wait and see, but I don't see how VC can go backwards from a demo.

Re: Arent sig shots and fss counterintuitive?

              totally agree.
its far more authentic having individual playing styles determined by the player and their attributes than having 3 ranges of superstar abilities that all have the same moves depending on range.
ie last year shaq was doing amare dunks and vice versa, same with kmart.. all because they were classed as power.
              its a gimmick.
              but 2k7's individual styles isnt.
              oh well.
live07's saving grace for me will be the tons of attributes a player has. if they can be edited and they trully have an affect on the A.I and abilities then i will be satisfied.

The problem I have is, that he's all of those things at once in real life. In Live, he's only one thing at a time, if you're a playmaker and throw a no look pass and Larry Hughes lobs it back what happens? You wont get a spectacular dunk because you wont have the time to switch back, there should be no thought or switching involved.

Ditto. Kobe is ALWAYS a high flying, scoring, playmaker. So is LeBron. I understand the need for swtching in Live because the moves for each category are the same input on the stick which is what makes it arcadey. I mean it would be fine if Live were an arcade game and Street didn't exist but that's not the case. Something about having to pull of a dragon punch in order to take a superstar jumpshot just doesn't seem right in a "sim". Having said all that, I'll still take it out for a test drive at some point.

How do you know you won't have the time to switch back?

Has anyone even had enough time to see yet?

Maybe at first it will probably be a little hard to switch over but I"m sure once the game is played more the controls will become very inituitive. I thought NHL 07 was very difficult for about 2-3 days now I can pretty much perform any combination of moves that I want in time.

By all means this stuff gets really old. Either rent the game and see what it is about once they are complete or simply just don't by the game period. But why keep speculating on what it might not beable to do or can't do. It's not that hard to waite for a game to be released to make a judgement serioulsy. If a game at 80-90% isn't looking good enough already to make a purcahse then whhy keep complaining about it and just don't give EA your money.

I've never understood the concept of moping about a game an then going out to buy it after you have already stated the game will suck or the game isn't of the quality you expected and there's a better game available. Just forget about Live and get the better game if that's the case. I mean we have guy's saying well it looks kinda better than what gamepsot showed a few weeks ago. Of course it looks better than what gamespot showed a feew ago.

Might that be because gamespot showed a demo that no one knows how far along it was at that time. Then you still have guy's saying well it doesn't look all that good still. Ok fine it still hasn't improved so why bother spending any more time waiting to see if it is going to improve. By now it's probbably at 90% and if that 90% isn't good enough for you still then I would just say screw EA and move along.

I read all all these same doom and gloom commnets about Madden and yet people still went out and purchased the game. Now they complain that game isn't what they expected and they traded it in. What kind of sense does that make for a person to complain about a game for 2-4 months then still but the game and later trade it in. Makes no sense at all to me.

maybe not a spectacular dunk last second but 2 points nonetheless, its not going to render a player useless, and if that was real life that would be the outcome. Its the right bumper to switch and it will surely be in our muscle memory after some pratice. Overall I agree with yall on this (moves may become complicated) I mean I sucked at the dunk contest in 05?. I like 2k6 & 2k7 too, a lot since the demo! Player ratings should define the players abilities and they do, but its the crazy all star type of game that I do not want to end up with so hopefully like PM said the sliders can tone it down or even cut it. all I know is I'm getting two NBA games this year.

It's because people hope their wrong. I know I did... I was hoping for a football game to knock me off my feet. Didn't happen.

The same can't be said for Live though... it looks like its been the one knocked off of it's feet...
