Re: Interesting Preview
For the gameplay, the camera has been tweaked (and yes, we mean fixed) and now the players move like they are actually stuck on the ground; overall the player models look fantastic. This is due in large part to the dedication this time out to revamping the entire player animation system, and it looks like it has paid dividends. The players now move with momentum that gives a sense of their mass and takes into account the weight shifts as they cut and pivot. It eliminates much of that unnatural jittery movement that has plagued basketball games. Idle animations have their heads looking around on the court, at other players, at the ball as it goes through the air and sometimes up at the stop clock. Those small things help the game establish a consciousness for the players on the court, making it feel like "you're in the game". A ton of signature jump shots have been included into the game for all of today's stars on the court. Oh yes, the courts themselves look awesome with crowds looking like real people, spotlights and fireworks capturing all the excitement from those opening player introductions getting you psyched up for the game.
There is still some room for improvement. Some of the animations under the basket could use some work, and EA is more than aware of it and is diligently working on improving it. Hopefully these rough edges will all be smoothed out by the time this game gets to stores later next month. So far, EA's sophomore effort on the 360 looks and plays great and we can't wait for the final build to try out here around the office.
Not every critic is the same. Metacritic offers aggregated game reviews from the top critics, and our own METASCORE pinpoints at a glance how each game was reviewed.
At this point who really knows what to make of Live 07. Gamespot basically showed some crappy videos but then you see a few previews from people who have played the game up close even without it being a complete build and several of them have stated the game still looks and plays better than Live 06. Luckily for me I'll have the money to buy both games and then judge for myself. That seems like the best bet this year espcially with Live 07 since one guy will say one thing and another guy will say something totally different. This is about the 3rd or 4th review I've read stating that the game is pretty solid.Last edited by Latrell24; 09-22-2006, 11:20 PM. -
Re: Interesting Preview
Good the camera's were wack last year. But I would've loved to see them spend more time tweaking that Broadcast camera because I thought it had great potential. It was unplayable in Live 06 but if EA had tweaked it for Live 07 I would have definelty used that camera for gameplay this year.
If they are going back to the old camera's then it'll be Press Camera again for me this year hopefully with more options for Zoom and Height. They also need more automatic replays because last night we played Live 06 and one my buddies had a sweet dunk with Ron Harper over Ralph Sampson and we wanted to seee it again but waited to late to hit the replay button.....
EA needs to go back to automatic replays this year.
Edit this part of the article was good to hear though not sure how far along the game was in development since he didn't mention it:
