My 2 cents on the 2007 NBA games for 360

Well I will try and keep this short and to the point.

I have been on this forum for a couple of years now, but I've never really taken the time to post. Most times people tend to get the newest games before me, and I read what everyone has to say.

What you need to know is that I am not a huge NBA fan. I like basketball but it isn't my favorite sport. Still, I've played almost all the basketball games over the last 3-4 years so I have a little experience with the different titles.

The short part of this post is as follows. If you are deciding between 2k7 versus Live 07 it is my humble opinion that 2k7 is a better game. There are a few things a really liked about Live, and it was the first game I purchased. After playing a few games and tinkering with things to see if I could improve them, I have to honestly say that I regret purchasing Live07.

Now the big question is how great is 2k7? Well if you have 2k6 I think that this year's game is worth a purchase. If you can hold out and wait for a used copy or some kind of sale, I think you will definitely feel that it was money well spent. If you have to pay full price and already own 2k6 ... maybe not so much.

I am not going to go into to many details except to say that shooting the ball in Live07 is difficult and at times frustrating. I guess when a lot of people were complaining about things like "frame rate" I didn't pay much attention. But honestly, shooting the ball in Live feels off ... it's difficult to know when to let go of the button which results in a lot of missed balls. Also it seems way to easy to dunk - something which might be corrected via sliders or bumping up the difficulty level. I didn't particular like the dunk animations either as it seems like one second you're going up for a dunk, and the next the ball is the net.

I cannot see myself playing Live07 after I caved in and bought 2k7. In fact I had 2k7 still wrapped up in my living room over the past 2 days before I finally decided that I had already bought it so I might as well try it out. It was a difficult decision because I really hate buying 2 baseketball games and spending $120 on something that isn't even my favorite sport!

Unfortunately I cannot get into a lot of things like team tendancies and individual shot animations and such simply because I don't feel qualified to talk about these things. What I can say is that 2k7 has a TON of customization options which can be adjusted through sliders which are setup for both human and cpu. Did I mention that there is something like 20 different camera angles - really crazy. Another cool thing which I found out on Operation Sports is that if you have a draft export from College Hoops 2k6 you can actually import it into 2k7! That was a nice surprise.

To summarize, I wouldn't call 2k7 the best sports game ever made (although I have seen other people saying that on various boards). I think it is a highly polished NBA game and for a casual fan (being me) I think that it is worth the purchase and is a more enjoyable game than Live.

Graphically I really loved Live. I bought it as soon as it was available and was really eager to try it out. I think that everything in Live looks more "real" versus 2k7 which seems more cartoony ... but again this is just my opinion.

My reason for writing this? Just in case there is someone out there (like me) who doesn't post and reads everyone's opinion to see what game they should get. If I had to assign a numeric value to each game, I would give Live a 7/10 and I would give 2k7 an 8.5/10.

Ok. If you want to post impressions, use the impressions sticky, and please, keep each game in its own forum
