I like this game better then 2K7 for the simple fact that it doesn't feel like the same game as last year. I'm not sure if I will buy it but renting it and trying it out has been a good experience so far compared to 2K7.

I'm enjoying the game alot more than before mainly because now you can see things starting to move and play better the further along playmakers continues to work on the game. Up until then it was painful for me because I don't no anything about how the sliders work or effect gameplay. But I've been slowing taking somethings playmakers has posted and used them for gameplay and it has been a much better gaming experience for me.

        Gentlemen,

        I was just wondering...

For any of us who have real jobs, or families. Would our bosses or wives except "IT'S/ I"M A WORK IN PROGRESS" as our response to why we preform inferiorly?

I don't think so. So why do we from Electronic Arts?

As I see it, we all love EA sports - "If it's n the Game, It's n the Game" was our mantra for many years. The problem is the stuff they're pushin' now...AINT IN THE GAME!?!

I'm not here to give a long laundry list of issues with this "WORK IN PROGRESS" called NBA LIVE 07...

All I am saying is that there would be absolutely nothing wrong with EA taking a year or two off from releasing LIVE/MADDEN/NHL, instead of PIMPMING us for our hard-earned money, with what we believe is going to be the "NEW HOTNESS!!!" (Now I'm not blind or stupid - I know this is a business and a profit needs to be made) But come on, when you've got deep enough pockets($$$) to buy EXCLUSIVITY of a professional sport (NFL), or buy-out a myriad of game developer studios - you can find other ways to generate revenue for the current fiscle year - and therefore release a finished, polished, complete, not broken or flawed product. Would we accept a HALO every year - that was a work in progress???

We, as loyal gamers, would appreciate it more and not feel like we have to defend ourselves every freakin' year against the 2K7 legions (of which I am also one).

Just a simple roster update via download would suffice during the off year.

        </P>
In closing, this rant is not meant to stir debate - only reflection.

Imagine if you were a female and found yourself in a not so good relationship that was once awesome (physical abuse, verbal abuse, etc.). Yet when your girlfriends ask you why you stay with that loser - you reply "HE LOVE"S ME THO'/ and we have soooo much history together". They would think you were crazy and headed for sudden death. WOULDN'T YOU?

If "YES" is your answer - then why do you accept this annual abuse from EA SPORTS.????

If "NO, I would Stay" is your answer - then you need to get in touch with your emotions - here's help http://www.ncadv.org/.

Thanks for listening...I feel so much lighter.

          No thanks man!

I'm starting to feel this game much more after PM's work with the sliders and playbooks. I just had a terrific game vs the Celtics using basically all of his settings and the game is starting to really kick in for me. I also enjoy Madden 07 and the fatigue is my only real complaint. I played NFL 2K5 forever and it was time for me to move on and Madden 07 is very good game to me.

So what you're saying is that you have no problem staying with a girl/ guy that you know is crazy/psycho/has baggage, because you can always go to therapy?? (slider/playbook adjustment)

Whatever happened to something being good/great from the start?

Isn't that what QUALITY CONTROL/TESTING is supposed to do before a game is released?

Thanks for the input, but you need to understand that now in days, life takes patience, and that's what most people in the world don't have. Hell, I hardly have any patience but I still try to make it work.

Yeah you right it is their job's but the point is they still make games for every company that needs to have things adjusted on our own.

It isn't just an EA thing either it's basically with every company where you find flaws with gameplay at their default settings.

So if your wanting people to join your petition how about creating one for basically every company because none of their Quality Control/Testing departments have impressed me.

Now when you get a petition worked up for all the others then maybe I'll consider taking up your offer but if your only looking to take action on one company and allow the others to continue to do what they then it serves no purpose to me.

I felt the same way about the controls when 1st purchased, but I it flows like clockwork. Hell. I felt the same way about 2K7's controls until you get comfortable they can be a b#$##. Again give both game a true run, by that I mean more than 1-2 games and you will see that both are pretty good. My favorite is Live 07. The makeup of the game and the direction it's going, I call it a Fresh Feel. It is what has impressed me. PEACE!!!

                      Wow,

I truly did not mean to rustle any feathers...my apologies

First, let me state again - My purpose is not to debate, but to stir reflection.

I have not asked anyone to start a revolution or join a petition. Part of the SAT's is comprehending what you read.

                      Where was I?...oh yeah!

You are absolutely right. Many companies release games that are not perfect, or flawed from the gate. And I accept that fact.

Here's the problem that I have with EA...Not with anyone on this board, just EA. So dont take this personally.

I am not a historian of statistics, but I would hazzard a guess that SPORTS is the number one genre in gaming, next to racing or fighting or RPG'S.

EA knows this, and that is why they consider MADDEN and often at times LIVE to be their FLAGSHIP franchises. How lucky for a developer/publisher to have more than one.

                      My point is...

Treat your flagship IP's with repsect, nuture/develop/evolve them into complete top notch Products.

Don't leave it up to the consumers to finish your development cycles for you. (Sliders and playbook adjustments should be to enhance the experience, not get it on track to where it should be.)

I agree, certain games take time to get used to - new control schemes, new AI, etc.. That's what makes gaming fun IMO. But to make excuses for why a game is Flawed before it's pressed and burned- is crazy to me.

FLAGSHIP to me means: That which represents what I am about. It is my best work. It is what I put most of my effort and time into.

If that does not make sense to any of you - here's some help in identifying Flagship IP's...

                      1. Konami - Metal Gear Franchise - Flagship

                      2. Tecmo - Dead or Alive - Flagship

                      3. Ubisoft - Anything Tom Clancy - Flagship

                      4. Bungie - Halo - Flagship

                      5. Rockstar - GTA - Flagship

                      6. 2ksports - NFL (well, we know what happened there)/ NBA - Flagship

All of these franchises have thier quirks or flaws, but none have ever been shipped as continuously year in and year out as MAdden or LIve with as many GAMEPLAY issues. AND that's what it's really all about - GAMEPLAY is KING! Innovation, Graphics, Style, Texures, Bump Mapping, Lighting, are all important - But gameplay is what keeps us coming back.

Again, this is about putting in the time to create a finished, not perfect, product. Somtheing EA did not do this year, That's all.

The first step in recovery is denial...Let's get to Acceptance - Together!

why do so many people say NBA live 07 for the 360 is "next gen".
Yes it has the best graphics of any sports title to date, but being next gen
includes more than graphis. It includes gameplay to. Gameplay is the most important part of a game no matter how "graphically better it is" and anyone
that watches the NBA and how its played knows that NBA Live does a horrible job of recreating its gameplay.

P.S. The game is Ok. its not horrible. I can enjoy it as a change of pace from other sports games.

After reading some people's thought's on the game, I was weary of getting NBA Live, but I got it anyway. Yes the game has it flaws, but now I am really enjoying it. The main thing that bothers a lot of people is the substitution problem. YES the computer doesn't sub unless it is in foul trouble. So what I do(and yes I shouldn't have to do this) I just sub for the computer myself. I sub as if I was playing with that team then switch back to my team. It is tedious, but what can I do? Now the game feels more realistic to me because the starters aren't in there the whole game. Also the point guard domination..... I try to double him with me controlling the double guy and force him to give up the rock and then get it back. It seems that they kinda go through their offense a little more that way. Anyway, basically what I am saying is I am ENJOYING the game now!

I was thinking the same thing. Aside from graphics (which animations are a part of), NBA Live is inferior in every way. In NBA 2K7, I get rewarded for playing the game like an NBA team plays i.e. making the extra pass, looking for open shots etc. In Live, it's just not the case.

Live is not a bad game. But 2K7, with it's next gen gameplay and animations, is a revolution. When I play a team, I feel like I'm facing individuals. Even in 2k6, I felt like I was going up against numbers/ratings. The NBA Live engine has not come close toreplicating this feeling.

Though Live looks much better in still shots, in motion it's quite the opposite. So I'm having a tough time seeing the argument that NBA Live is next gen and 2K7 is not.
