    The Forums tell the story...

I have been trying to find a way to like Live 07 (360), but I can't. I've hoped to find someone with some news that will allow me to keep Live and play the Franchise Mode. I am going to try siming the Live games but I really don't think I will be able to keep my interest level up.

The Forums are like night and day. The Live Forum are riddled with people comparing Live to 2k. People who claim to like Live don't seem to be relaying the same information other 2k players are relaying.

Fact: 2k is a better game than live
    Fact: 2k is more challenging.
Fact: Live seems to force players to miss dunks(since you can dunk every possesion) instead of playing good b-ball

Opinion: I don't think Live is bad, I think it might be the graphics engine. It plays like Madden(sort of). What I mean is once an animation begins it seems to continue no matter what.

Opinion: Maybe next year EA will use the Reverse and Forward Kinetics I saw in the Fifa game.(I dout it)

I never use internet forums to decide anything,In fact I think alot of people on gaming forums actually spend more time talking about games then actually playing them. sad really

Re: The Forums tell the story...

Besides actually playing the games yourself internet forums such as this one (ie mostly "sim focused" players) is the best way to check how good/bad a game is. The professional reviews for sports games are mostly a joke and the guys playing them have no idea how the real sport is played let alone a videogame reproduction of it.

Judging soley from the forum's it seems that 2k7 is the majority choice for sim heads and live will offer a great alternative that some people will prefer but most won't. I think this year we have two good quality representations of the sport where as last year we had one port that didn't add much except for prettier graphics and tweaked gameplay (2k6) and a barebones 1st try on a new console that had heaps of teething problems (live06).

At least this year it seems that both games are good enough to warrant a purchase if you have the time and money to do so.

Unless I've just been playing 2K too long or I suck at Live.

What a productive thread. Why can't people accept that there can be two great games? Instead we are subjected to these "fact" threads. We, the consumers, are our own worse enemies.

Nice post one of the best I've seen in this thread. I was just like the poster goh I played 2K's basketball game for the past 3-4 years and just like most Maddden fans that get upset and complain about the gameplay being stale becuase it's the same thing every year. The reason why I played Madden and Live this year is because it felt totally new to me. I'm a huge NFL 2K5 fan but the fact is it was time for me to move on and I found something about Madden 07 that was very good. I'm on the same boat with NBA 2K7 and Live 07. I just think Live feels much more different than the previous NBA 2K games I was playing every year.

I'm starting to enjoy the game because it's fresh for me and 2K7 had become stale. I'm not saying it's a bad game because if you are playing it for the first time it will give you a totally different feeling from when I pay the game. That is most likely because I'm burnt out on the game. It's pretty much the exact opposite with Live 07. Some EA fans might just be burnt out on the game but for me it's something new because I haven't played it like 4 years. I enjoy the game and don't see why it's a such a problem for me to actually like this game.

Your post makes all the sense in the world to me that's why I think it's one the best post I've read since the release of both games.

In NBA LIVE 2007 the CPU cheats to compensate for poor AI. You drive to the basket and the CPU decides you will not make the shot no matter what you do. This is a poor way to make the game challenging and it is blatent cheating. At least in NBA 2K7 the CPU contests shots and when you miss you do not feel cheated.

2k does the exact same thing..in fact I think its worse.
If I am up by 10...I miss 5 open layups.....the cpu hits 3's with hands in their faces.
and until I can find a way to make mutumbo not run as fast as jesse owens to catch me on a fast break....I would call that cheating too.

Yeah I've been having the same problem .

Accept I felt like the AI was cheating for me when came back from 7 points down in less than 2:00 minutes to beat the Mavs 78-77 using the Nuggets. I couldn't believe the AI let helped me to knock down 2 open 3's with Carmelo Anthony and then made Dirk Nowitzki miss two go ahead shots from outside for Dallas.....and being a huge Mavs fan playing against them to test the playbook I installed I wanted Dirk to hit those shots so bad.....:y4:

But like you said the AI cheats accept in this case they might have cheated for me don't you think?

There's a lot to be said for this. I've been on NFL 2k5 and Live 05 and 06 for the last 2 years and I guess I'm about sick of them both. And now I have Madden and NBA 2k Basketball sitting on my shelf. And despite both their shortcomings I am enjoying them both. It has a lot to do with it just being time for a change.

Well if EA ever decides to release a patch for Madden I'l start back playing the game more because it is than Madden 06. I returned that game after about 1 week last year on the 360. I'm usually a patient guy but that game just didn't impress me. Madden 07 I find very playable but the fatigue issue is my only gripe. I haven't touched it since NHL 07 and NBA Live 07 was released. NHL 07 alongside NCAA 07 are my favorite Next Gen games by a land slide over anything else.

Man you gotta go see it up close in person. I always go when the Stars come to Phoenix. It's totally different from Hockey on TV. You'll really love the expeirence of seeing it up close in action. The speed of the game is amazing up close.

                            Peace!

Exactly, no other sport is as night and day from tv to real life as hockey is. Also, let me be clear that for my NBA preference, I am on PS2 (waiting for PS3). So who knows which game I'd be playing this year if I was on 360.
