While it’s a good day for DICE, EA investors voiced their displeasure. Company stock nosed down nearly 3 percent to $54.21 in recent trading, but at least one analyst says the slip has nothing to do with DICE. “The stock is down on NBA Live getting lousy reviews,” said video game analyst Michael Pachter of Wedbush Morgan Securities, referring to the company’s latest basketball title.



In a market where well-regarded games typically nab a score of at least 8 of 10 on popular review sites, NBA Live is performing poorly. “NBA Live 07’s many gameplay flaws and uneven visuals relegate the series to the bench for yet another year,” writes Gamespot, handing the Xbox 360 version of the game a measly 6.5. Competing site 1UP gave the title a paltry 5.0.



“In order to succeed in the next generation, you have to make good games,” Mr. Pachter said. “Everybody’s going to make a mistake occasionally, [but] they need to get their game quality up.”

I would be too, with those kind of ratings. A 4.9 (CG) and 6.0 from IGN ? A 6.5 from Gamespot and 5/10 from 1up? I mean, I take all reviews and scores with a grain of salt, but these are bad across the board.

Well the scores they gave had a little extra bite to them which i'm happy about. EA can ignore thier customers but not its company outlook. On a tangent, I really have to wonder if EA is going to fix the gameplay and physics for this title, It cant possibly sell on the Wii or PS3 after a ton of negative publicity .

They must go back to the drawing board to get back to what they used to do well, and that's making sports games like in the 90's. LIVE '07 was ok on the 360 and an improvement over '06, but I still feel like the game needed months of work before release.

Most definately, i dont know what kind of pressure they have on getting games out on time but, it sure needed work. Makes you wonder how spread out thier projects are. ESPN integration is great (while its free) graphics incredible, but they couldnt pull it all together in time. I see what they were trying for, and with more work on movement and physics, this game could have been spectacular. I would really like to see a re release of the game, no patch will fix it, heck the madden patch didnt fix what it was addressed to fix. Yeah in the 90's man EA was huge, I used to go to Babbages in the early 90's and get my games. Of course back then, if you were a gamer and in high school you were a lol. But hey, who doesnt game now. I Like your avatar man Audioslave is great!

That whole article is BS, cause for starters the reviews came way after the game dropped (which many people complained about). Secondly, the game had already gone gold before it was shipped, so selling wouldn't wouldn't be an issue for it. I don't believe that Live would attribute for whatever problem their having. Regardless of the gameplay everyone knows Live is gonna outsell the competion and that's soely based off of their brand.

If you really sit back and think about it, they're sports games in the 90s were pretty much like it is now. Basic roster updates. Its just that their was no other dev out to top what they were offering at the time. They excelled in graphics, realism and features and thats just compared to what was around at the time. But think of the "Vs" series and think about how many changes were made year to year. Also think about the 16 bit Live series and reconize how slowly that developed from year to year. There was'nt any significant changes besides tweaks and a feature or 2 added. Sound familiar?

I rented this last night and no doubt in my mind this is the worst 360 game that I've played. I couldn't even make it through a complete game.
