A wise man once told me....
Watch out for the Rise and Fall of a powerhouse.A friend of mine ( who actually is in the gaming industry as a developer) once told me "its all about the green" when it comes to EA SPORTS. The irony of this debacle, is that EA has tied their own rope by locking other companies out of a chance to compete.( Football) Although NBA 2k7 is superior to Live, the main problem is that EA doesn't expand their budgets enough to compensate for additional resources in order to make the best games money can buy. Their upper management team should be fired because of the lack of strategic planning. Its really bad PR to make people pay for add ons, particularly to a game that isn't worth the money from the jump.

Re: A wise man once told me....
on the XBOX, PS2, Gamecube and other platforms. The things is that NBA 2K is outperforming them on the XBOX 360. The future is with that system. EA came out for the XBOX 360 with a horrible showing. It was subpar in various ways compared to their competition which really isn't good. Seeing that inflation has increased and bills are more of a factor these days, people aren't just going to just buy games for the heck of it. The jump is suppose to be significant in so many ways. People aren't on just buying games freely like they have before. The weak games don't get too much love compared to the better games. Good games get the play......Comment

EA is going to be just fine because no matter how inferrior of a product they put out, enough knuckleheads will buy it because thats what "they know". Period.
EA to sports games is what Coke or Pepsi is to a cola softdrink. Thier formulas havent changed for like 100 years but they outsell any other new cola alternative that comes out, even if it is a better soft drink. Its all about brand awareness people. Most people go with what they know.__________________________________________________ ____

Re: A wise man once told me....
EA has had 4 cracks at the 360. Madden 06 and 07 and NBA Jive 06 and 07. With both 06 titles, we gave them a pass simply because they rushed to put those titles out in time for the holidays last year (would we even give a second thought to buying a sports title with no franchise/legacy mode?). This year, they come back with over a year of development under their belts and they drop duds for both titles. Madden was awful, so was NBA Jive. And I say that being someone who purchased NBA Jive from 1995 - 2006. Its like EA gives you a new gimmick each year just to pacify you again until they cant nail you raw for another $40 - 60. I switched to NBA 2K because I was told it was light years better than NBA Live. I was reluctant to believe it, but after you go to to countless gaming stores, Best Buys, and Circuit City's asking the same question, getting the same answer...at what point to do you say "am I being a EA sucker for still considering purchasing an obviously inferior product?" As much as people want change, they fear it. Change means adapting to something new...thats why XBOX'ers dont want PS3'S, why PS2'ers don't want 360's, why Jivers dont want 2K7...because they dont REALLY want to change. I went ahead and bought a used copy of NBA 2K7 (since you have 7 days to return it if you hate it) and gave the game a chance. I played 3 minutes of an exhibition game and vowed to never buy another EA product (Live, Madden, MVP...ANYTHING!!!) until I saw some drastic improvements. NBA 2K7 makes all of those games look amatuerish on smoothness and framerate alone....Comment
