Re: New Live 08 Video Preview
A couple of those dunk animations are pretty spiffy. There's a few kinks noticeable like AI picking up the ball after one of his moves and then dribbling again. At least Gilbert's honest saying Live 07 was the worst game he's ever played, it's uncharacteristic for him to say anything but the truth of what's on his mind so maybe Live 08 could be better than it looks.Comment

Re: New Live 08 Video Preview
the guy talking in the movie seems like he knows what hes talking about unlike the producer in the other videos. i think his name was brian ulrich or something, the old fat looking guy.Comment

Re: New Live 08 Video Preview
I'm going to assume that the PS3 version will also be running at 60 fps. They had an extra full year to get acquainted with the PS3 hardware due to the cancellation fo the Live 07 version, there are no excuses for it to be otherwise.Comment

What has to improve in all basketball games is weak side reaction and just as importantly anticipation by A.I. controlled defenders. I know they were playing on a lower level to show off offensive moves, but the help side D should not be that poor even on rookie.Jordan Mychal Lemos

Re: New Live 08 Video Preview
That looked pretty good. Much smoother than both previous Lives for the next gen. Is EA actually stepping up on all of its games this year?Carolina Pride!!!

Re: New Live 08 Video Preview
Ok well my opinion of this game is that it so far looks a lot like 07. I'm not counting it out yet, but it seems to be the same as usual.
Anyway i have noticed a problem that has plagued live games for a while now. The problem is the line detection most notably the three point line. If you go to 3:38 in the video gilbert does his go to move and his right foot is clearly over the three point line but the ref raises his hand signaling it was a three point attempt. Now i know this is being picky, but that is inexcusable in a basketball game.Comment

Re: New Live 08 Video Preview
As Gilbert put it, the game is 10x better just by looking at the game in action.
Animations look really good. Contact under the basket is much improved. I like the post-up game play - at least what we see of it.
I'm impressed that EA has worked to improve the gameplay. Is it better than 2k? I don't know and won't know until I get my hands on both.
I am even more impressed that EA finally got rid of that skip/hop dribble animation that was present in Live for the past number of years. It was the dumbest [dribble] animation in sports history (yes, even worse than the crouching fielder in ASB).
Watching players move close to realistic is a nice touch that gives the game more life."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace
