no option to turn off automatic switching on defense could be annoying. still need to play demo and hear reviews of final product on this one.

Thats definitely not the case. You only switch automatically when you engage the defensive lock (left trigger).

Wait wait wait... you mean Online Leagues aren't really leagues at all??

In terms of additions to the game, the biggest news of all for NBA Live 08 comes in the form of online tournaments. Here, up to 32 players can compete in leagues that, according to producers, are based on online presence. In other words, EA does not handle the scheduling of tournament games; instead, the game merely handles the results and statistics then declares a winner when all games in the tournament are complete. Setting up a league is as simple as going to the appropriate menu and selecting "create online league."

Am I reading this wrong? So you don't get an actual season with playoffs... you get random games in a tournament?

One of the biggest issues in running a successful league is scheduling. Alot of the time you have bad team owners who don't play their games. If you are in a schedule format, this can ruin your league because you can't progress to the next week without playing your current game. This format takes care of that issue.

So eliminating any semblance of an NBA season in the form of an online league is EA's "solution" to this issue. That's ridiculous.

It looks like EA will offer tournaments and an online league this year. The scheduling is not rediculous because you'll still be able to play your games, it just won't be in the order it's scheduled. I personally think it's a needed addition to any online league, I know 2K offers this as well.

My issue is it's not reflective of an NBA season. The number of games you can choose are only for the tournament length, if I'm reading it correctly. You can't specify the length of a playoff series. They are all one game, win or lose.

I hope I'm reading this wrong... I'm just asking for clarification. I can't understand why you would do that and not offer the option to play a 3 game, 5 game and/or 7 game series.

Not sure what you want but an OPEN LEAGUE format is the best...2K does the exact same thing and their 2k leagues sites are great when you have good owners because the open league format allows you to play when you have the time to play and when you see your opponent online.

Forcing everyone to play weeks 1-15 in order is a recipe for disaster...I would just be happy with the fact that we are going to get a league option at all instead of questioning how they will avail the leagues to us.

ditto...I see these leagues being very BROKEN when they are finally unveiled...EA online game testing is garbage. When will they get smart and allow some beta testing by consumers
