I ended up buying this game on Saturday and went straight into editing as per PLAYMAKERS suggestions.

All the edits. The playbooks. The fast break changes. The PG chancges.The works.

To just do four teams took ages...so I wouldn't really recommend anyone does it.

However...after the changes, the game plays pretty good. Not great, but good. Certainly, it's the most playable next gen LIVE by a long way.

Off ball movement is nice, spacing is great. Gamepace is better with PM's fixes.

There's still a whole host of things wrong. We all know what they are by now. No one should even pretend this game is as good as it's opposition.

So...let's keep this thread positive. Only 'good things'.

What are you enjoying about the game now - the good things?

I love the player specific "go to moves". They are an awesome feature IMO. I was playing the Pistons and Billups was doing that step back J of his all the time...and then Sheed went to work on me with that high arch baseline J of his...

I played the Celtics and KG was hitting that fade away J he takes all the time.

Dirks go to move is the best I've seen in any game. It's 100% perfect. It's a thing of beauty to play the Mavs and see Dirk hold the ball high, step back and shoot a 17 foot fade away in your face.

So far...I've only edited the Mavs, C's, Pistons and Heat.

Not even sure if I'll edit them all as it takes too long.

The game plays okay though after editing.

The atmosphere...the post game...player specific stuff...and edits make this a solid game. Worth playing for one off type games IMO / not worth it for a season or franchise etc...

I got a 360 kit and downloaded his new file and it has the best game play by far for Live 08.

I can tell the rebounding and defense got major upgrades on his new file and believe it or not I was shocked to see Vince Carter go up for a dunk on a fast break got fouled and missed the dunk. It was pretty nice and the animation was dead perfect on that sequence.

My Positives

Overall Team Play is 80% perfect on his file
Defense is vastly improved as i could tell the difference between teams
Rebounding is still not perfect but it is a huge upgrade compared to before i see more players jumping
PG play by the ai is 10x's better than before now
The ai has run post up plays for several SG's and SF's
The player speed changes does wonders to overall feel of the game
I'm very impressed with the work he did on the verticals and 1st steps because there are 10x's more layup attempts than dunks now.

My Negatives

No new players were created but it's not a big deal
Players still don't dive for loose balls
CPU's Pg's play like Gary Payton on defense back in his best days

I'd say his latest changes have gone a long way in making this game much more playable for me.

so what happens when your in like year 4 of your nfranchise, all those new players coming in will not have any changes to them, making the game play like it did when first bought, right?

I guess you missed CV's purpose of the thread. I mean, I know you want the world to know that you think 2K is better and you were wrong for going on and on about how good live was this year and how you may not even get 2K, but you don't have to do it in every single live thread.

There's still a whole host of things wrong. We all know what they are by now. No one should even pretend this game is as good as it's opposition.

So...let's keep this thread positive. Only 'good things'.

I still own live, and I'm just asking a question, I want to know what happens after like your 4th year in franchise with the new players...I wanted to try playmakers edits...I still like live, I just wish the issue can be fixed...

I like occasional games. May even play a short season.

No way in hell am I playing a franchise of this though

Still "figuring out" my final edit of the game.

Playmakers "assumes" that the rating/attribute tweaking works based off a 0-99. but it doesn't "feel' like it does. there seems to be a improbability in them just like in madden 08.

My original edit was a s a base. Something I could work off of. my slider settings stand, but my attributes do not. neither does my camera.

the main problem with the game is mainly the animations and the lack of some that should be branching or more fliud. the trick is to eliminate anything to showboaty so that it looks like it's just a normal game of basketball instead of a dunkfest,a dribble fest or a lay-up circus. In part the speed of the players dictates whether or not they look super human or "forced" into shots that they pull off with ease but look "weird" or "off" when executed by the button pressing.


Either way, i'm confident I can get what i want out of it. whereas in madden 08 i could not.

When?I hope that with your file the game will be more realistic, as playmakers file is damn good but a lot of animations make it like players can fly or made some "stupid" moves, on the contrary I search for a more real feeling of the game.

On his latest file as I mentioned the rebounding overall is much improved. I think the teams play to their strength's. The defenses depending on which team you play can be very good or spotty as I think he did a better job this time in seperating the bad teams from the good teams.

In terms of what happens after 3-4 years, since there is no March Maddness import draft class option I think you can still enjoy NBA Live for 2 seasons with his file because it's that good. I have NBA 2K8 and that'll be my long franchise game and I'll play Live with PM's edits just to get the best possible play out of the game right now. He did a great job addind more realism into the game play in general.

One thing to note is that, if you edit the ratings like PM suggests, you end up with an NBA where every team is pretty much rated 85 + overall.

I.e. no weak teams...everyone is equal.

I simmed a season and the Bobcats made The Finals. LOL

As I said...these edits are for one off games.

Play the odd Celtics v Mavs game and it's great fun

Season, franchises etc are not.

I haven't done the roster edits but I just d/l the file (thanks evarts) but I was bragging about those Go-To-Moves before. I think they're wonderful.

People say they're not sig shots, but that's the thing. They're more sig movements/animations. And it's awesome when you're able to pull it off or when the CPU pulls it off against you. I especially like when you don't know exactly what the player's Go-To-Move is and you do it by accident.

Those are those "ohhhhh" moments.

I have to give Live some time this weekend and make these edits.

It is a "fun" game IMHO. Quirky and off, but fun.

The go to moves are great...they are a level ahead of sig shots in my opinion. They look great, better than 2K's sig shots. I had Kobe do that post up fade away over one of my smaller guards last night. Very cool.

That was biggest issue I had with his original file.

In his new new dynasty file there are some teams rated lower as he based it off a basketball magazine.
