First get the player where you want behind the title bar, and and have that layer selected. Then select the "Rectangular Marquee Tool" (located in top left corner of toolbox), and click and drag over the area you want to overlap. Then right click and select "Layer via Copy". In the layers box, drag this new layer above the title bar layer. Then just erase or cut-out what you dont want overlapping.

Anyone up for doing a 360 OJ Mayo action shot cover? It's been hard for me to find pics of him.........."Well the NBA is in great hands but if I had to pick the single greatest player on the planet, I take Kobe Bryant without hesitation." - Michael Jordan, 2006Comment

As far as making the hand and the ball go over the NBA Live bar I would follow Cy's directions. I do my overlaps a bit different than he does and it is harder to explain in words. Basically I do a cut on the part of the player image that I want to overlap. I use the Lasso tool to do this.
For the jersey and the tattoos, first I use the Unsharp Mask filter on the cut. Second, I then use the Smudge tool to smudge the entire jersey, following the contours of the jersey. I use a brush width of 10-15 on the larger less detailed areas and a brush width 3-7 for the more detailed areas with the strength set to 5. I also smudge the skin but I do not smudge the tattoos. With the Unsharp Mask it sharpens the tattoos up. You have to zoom in a lot so you can smudge the skin right up to the edges of the tattoos. You will have to play around with the Unsharp Mask and find a setting you like. I hope this helps.SportsCoverWorld.com
