How is it on the Wii??!?!

I finally bought the Wii (mainly for my family), but was wondering,
how is it with football and basketball games?

I can see how it would be with baseball/golf/boxing, but was wondering what the opinion was on the Wii with sport games, which are my fav...

i have the PS2 and will more than likely upgrade to the PS3, but just wondering...

    Thanks!!

Pre Sliders: I thought it was a pretty terrible game. No Franchise Mode, No Player Lock, No Creation Mode, etc.

Post Sliders (Using my Slider Set): NBA Live is pretty close to a simulation experience. There are still too many blocks and the computer can at times take it to the rack a bit too often, otherwise it was a pretty decent experience. Very good when you have friends over or when you want to play with your girlfriend.

The online is basic, but solid. I would rent it first and give yourself a couple days to try it with and without my slider set. I feel that next years version should be enough to warrant a purchase from me, even with a PS3.

Moshnak from Gamefaqs had a pretty good Micro Review of it, I agree with him for the most part, but I didn't find it to be as unresponsive as he did:

"Once I saw this on the shelf at gamestop I freaked and rushed it to the counter. Once there the gamestop employee, which was part emo, started ranting and saying how bad this game was. He kept saying that you cannot control the movements of your players and that you can only shoot and pass. So I ended up putting the game back. I left that one and then went to another one and bought the game there, cause I had high hopes... Got to my buddies, popped it in, awesomeness happened... haha... but seriously, this game is good and fun...

First off, with advanced controls, you can fully control your basketball player just like any basketball game you've ever played... And there IS an alley-opp button!!

I will say that I'm not a big basketball person and honestly only know veterans and the very well known players... This game is however not very in depth, but is fine with me... I am, however, a big madden person and would not be happy if my madden 08 was lacking this much depth... So people that love basketball games and are a fan of the series, NBA live 05 for xbox has 3 times as much to it than Wii's 08...

There is no fantasy draft, edit players, create players/teams, practice mode, and type of description on how the plays are to be run (I'm still clueless).

The slam dunk contest is weak, fun, but still weak... It just gives you a list of 3-5 motions to do with your wii-mote and your player does the rest... I really liked how the other ones were very in depth and were all about timing and accuracy... This one you just got to time your swings, if you get one sing to early and the rest perfect, your score is screwed...

The 3 point shoot out is very well done... Shooting in this game is very fun... Sometime unresponsive though...

My main complaint is how unresponsive it can be at times... This happens ALOT -> Call a play to have a pick set, play the pick and roll around to take a shot for three, you swing the wii-mote and nothing happens, go to shoot again but it is too late and you get stuffed..."

Madden is good. Check the IGN Review.

it sucks on the wii...nintendo should listen & make these games compatible with the gc or classic controller along withthe motion controls

Live is horrible on the Wii. I rented it for a night and that was it for me. Way too many things missing, like being able to pump fake or spin.
