    Signature Playcalling Interview and Video

    Link:

The info sounds great I can't wait to try this feature out in the demo. Wow the gameplay is looking great I really like the way the players are moving off the ball. This feature and the improved player movement will definitely make running plays easier than it has been in past years.

More info coming tomorrow on another feature in the game.

This game with this video alone just earned a purchase from me...playcalling is all I needed, and the fact that plays change depending on who is on the court is perfect.

Sweet, fixed icon passing, one button play calling

and yes, this is one thing someone was worried about in here but it seems that has been addressed, where will the DNA determine your player going left only since its in his DNA

IGN: How do you execute a play in-game?

Jeff Antwi: Calling and executing a play is much easier this year. Simply press and hold LB on the 360 (or the L1 button on the PS3) to bring up a menu of your play options. Select the play of your choice and follow the play visualization to get a shot for your favorite player. You can also let Dynamic DNA call the best play for your team by pressing the Triangle button on PS3 (or the 'Y' button on the 360).

IGN: So, does Dynamic DNA get automatically input into signature playcalling?

Jeff Antwi: Yes; Dynamic DNA is used in a number of ways with this feature. Not only does it drive the types of plays the AI will call, but it's also used to determine which players will have plays called for them, and how frequently a play will be called for that player. The really cool part of this is that plays will change based upon the five players on the court.

Yes, this feature looks awesome. I liked the auto-playcalling on 2K8, but it seemed like it called the same 5 plays every time (baseline stack, Motown music, beluba screen, etc.) regardless of what plays you chose to be in your playbook. This seems like a huge upgrade to Live's current system and an improvement to 2K8's system (the passing icons looked nice and fairly unobtrusive, compared to the blocky play art that 2K has).

I agree on that with the playcalling and like the fact that they adjust according to who's on the floor.

Would hate to have Antonio Daniels trying to be Gil when he's subbed out.

I hope also that they tuned the game to reward you for playing good man D and contesting jumpers without blocking everything into the shooters face, but instead it just forces him into a bad shot.

The spacing definitely looks great and it will make running plays even better. Unlike in 2K8 where running plays can sometimes be frustrating because occasionally the players will run into each other causing the play to break down.

Yeah the spacing is great in this series. I remember the CPU used the poor spacing in CH2k8 to bunch up to get my defenders stuck then popped out for a shot. One of those things where the AI will make sure it scores no matter what.

Don't see myself having that issue here. Look how Tmac came around that screen at the top of the key and the room and time he had to take that quick J.

Good article. I just read it on IGN before coming here, and it turns out, someone's already posted it.

                          Pros (from article):
                          +Bucks court is finally correct!
                          +Rockets court is finally correct!
+Court spacing is wonderful (I noticed it, too)
+The feature sounds promising; I don't know what Dynamic DNA has to do with it more than personnel, but the fact that it changes based on personnel is terrific.
                          +Funny line about the Knicks

                          Cons (from article):
-There are 30 teams in the NBA, not 32 as the designer states.

                            Good point.

I really hope the AI will utilize this feature as it should. Both games have had "team specific playbooks" in the past.

However, the CPU controlled teams in both franchises have not been able to use the playbooks that are assigned to each team effectively.

To this point, 2K OR Live has not been able to program the CPU AI to call only plays from each team's authenic playbooks.

If the AI in Live is effective in pulling this off, this 'could' lead to the most authenic playing basketball game that we have seen on these NextGen consoles.

Yep I love the spacing in this game and it looks like chasing good shooters around the court is going to be important in this game. Like it is in real life, because if you give them any room they will drain the shot before you can react.

Now that I think about I can't wait use the Lakers because the spacing will make using "the machine" extremely fun. I can't wait to run Sasha off them screens and start draining them shots.
