I'm pretty amazed as of right now with how live is shaping up, It looks so much improved from last year, the one thing that stands out is the player movements are so much fluent then ever, and the crowd maybe the best looking crowd in any sports game to date, the colors are so nice looking, and I'm really liking the player models this year. The only hope is the game play like a sim, if that I may be picking LIVE up this year. I 'm a 2k guy, and I have to see more from 2k, but live has really impressed me this year, and there always getting info out everyday which is cool.


Anyway one else agree.

Agreed! Game is much improved and looks better each time info is released, not to mention the communication the devs have with OS is a nice thing as well.

40 more days and we gets some game time.

Live does look a lot better and I'll more than likely be picking it up sooner or later this year(now I just shocked myself). I don't know about the crowds being the best either. They don't look better than the show's crowds. I don't even know they look better than NBA 2k9's crowds, but they do look improved. Looks like it could be a fun game this year. The sounds in this game alone are worth a rental

I'm not shocked surprised at all. Ever since 07(360) I was a fan of the series because the tech behind NBA Live(foot planting and graphics) was ahead of other games,but it faltered badly in the ball physics(which are still not introduced like they are in Fifa (why?)

What surprises me is this DNA thing. will this be a benefit to us roster editors where we can just edit our players based off an internal internet connection instead of having to always go back n forth between the internet itself and magazines for info? if so cool, but if it alienates us editors in a way that we are locked into not editing at all and just relying on the DNA statistics it could be bad....


09 does look great this year no doubt about it,but EA has had a very strong line up of game since Nascar 09. almost every one has been better than it's last years edition and it continues with NBA Live and that is why it isn't much of shock. this is the closest EA has gotten to 2004's 2005 titles in a long time as far as the best in the series of a lot of their sports games.

I didn't say the crowd didn't look good(great compared to last year), but it still doesn't look or move better than the show's crowd, or from what I've seen NBA 2K9's crowd.

Thats real Sage, and if you can get the Sage himself to pick up NBA Live you had to have put in some kind of work somewhere

I dont think EA will be quite there yet but maybe next years game will have more included.

Cant wait to get that list of sig shots to beluba so they can patch them into the game. I believe they've finished making it at this point so next month the demo should be out. Couple of more weeks maybe?

I'm getting both. If I had to choose, I would get 2k, regardless of how good Live looks in the previews. I can't see myself favoring Live over 2k...

Sage as much as I know your trying to make a point and be a smart *** at the same time. lol

You have to view it from this stand point. I've been die-hard visual concepts basketball since Coach K and NBA Action series. And when they created their new label, which is the 2k series. I was happy to see them evolving over time. The last NBA Live I enjoyed before 08, was NBA Live 95 on Genesis. All the ones on PS2 and Xbox were terrible to me, with the short midget bobble head player models and the constant sliding around the floor and the major 3-point kills and dunk fest. Then Live 06 came out on 360 in which I picked up after it dropped to $20 and saw the graphics that I wanted to see on a Next-Gen console, I bought 2k6 on launch being faithful to my team, since I was a 2k fanatic.

2k6 College and NBA disappoint and felt to much like regular Xbox. So Live 06 felt fresh to me, even with the terrible camera angles and the whack *** freethrow system.

Then Live 07 previewed and I saw the new graphics and the somewhat average trailers. Looked decent, but me being 2k, I bought 2k7 without hesitation and I wasn't disappointed. 2k7 was an amazing game. So was college hoops which I'm going to miss.

But when the 08 and 2k8 games came out, I heard about the new team EA hired and were working on it, so I gave them the benefit of the doubt and scooped it up. Now for a new team to come in and make a NBA game on a new engine in little over 8 months and to be as good as it was I was shocked. 8 months and a minimum setback. Accessories changing issues, a few players the wrong skintone, And the rebounding issues with the ball hitting the floor, and an occassional running out of bounds. But with slider work, it was a good game done well. 2k8 I played to death until I slept 3 hours a day, but as I rotated them in my lineup, something hit me.

Didn't 2k used to be the king of graphics and gameplay, now its just gameplay. And they use to be the king of presentation. Somewhere down the line, we lost everything just for gameplay and the only reason the gameplay was as good as it is. Is because they are using the same damn engine for the last 5 to 6 years. Which always concerned me, and is why the game also gets boring fast, its feels like the same ole' same ole' with a new coat of paint and a few upgrades.

Live 08 was a leaps and bounds difference in 8 months, not to mention the presentation with Marv and Steve is unmatched. The player models, skin detail and faces are incredible. Say what you want about 2k's graphics they are still too cartoonish and never went to the next level, if you think I'm just talking and lying. Look at the new player models screenshots, still got them square fingers and stuff. Its not shenmue its the NBA. No reason why that one detail hasn't changed in years. Not to mention why is it so hard for them to hire nice generic announcers for the NBA as they did with NFL back in the day?

Live 08 showed me what a team can do in 8 months thats new to the system. And from the looks of Live 09 a full year was even sweeter, the game looks good, and the change of pace is going to be what keeps me playing.

From the 1 video leaked of 2k's basketball game, it looks like 2k basketball, new coat of paint same engine. And with the lack of details 37 days before release, makes me wonder, what are they hiding and are things that bad, where they have to be secretive about it. I still love my 2k games though. I'm even in a Career mode on Prizefighter and doing rosters for CH 2k8. So I'm still giving them the benefit of the doubt.

But fact is Live 09 is looking great from all aspects, and looks like these guys put some serious efforts into the game. I know the 2k blinders are still on some peoples eyes, and I understand that previous Lives have sucked a donkey. Even I've admitted that, bt honestly no one can sit here and say,"this game isn't looking promising". And I know the 2kfanboys not just fans., But fanboys will never like this game no matter what because of bias thoughts. You don't hate the game, you hate the name. EA publishes and that flame just burns of hatred. But truth is, talent developers made it, not EA. And honestly it seems these guys want to bring us a great experience this year.

People speculate its for the money and sales. Well everyone wants their products to sale, but then again from the level of stuff they are inputing into this game. I'd say its for the love of the sport and video games.

And as FF says,"its looking good"! And we know he's loves some 2k. Sage renting it is a 1st step of crossing boarders. Way to go buddy!

After rewatching the video a couple of more times, the foot planting is really well done. I dont see any sliding what so ever. Good work.
