I only had time for two games and unlike last year, I want to check it out some more later - it definitely felt better than 08.
About the demo itself - take a note VC! That's how it should be; you can check nearly all option screens and get informations about it.

It's nice to play around in the gym while loading, but it's still just a way to make the load time a bit enjoyible. And then it goes to a camera seemingly moving from the locker room to the court - it still reads 'loading'. I guess I'm cosseted by VC and the PES series, but that is something that bothers me with all EA sports games - loading takes too long.
The fans look good - as long as they are blurred or on pics. While it's not as bad as in NHL09, they only have like 5 animation frames per second.
As said, the initial impression of the actual gameplay is positive; I left with the want of playing some more - didn't even check all the controls. Only strange thing I noticed: In both games a CPU player hit from his own court half, a few steps to the half court line - hope that's not the norm.

The demo really does not feel smooth to me. Admittedly I am still getting used to the controls, but but I've seen enough awkward looking transitions from picking up the dribble to the shot to know it's not that.


On the plus side, it looks great, though I am not a fan of the player models.

Just so you all know.


Unlimited (I think) shoot around with Paul in the Practice Facilities. Then you can play 1 half of 2 minute quarters with Lakers vs Celtics with the current rosters, June 8th 2008, or their November game in 2007. Instead of quitting after the game, you just go back to the practice facility.

Also, the video that shows at the beginning is unskipable so just know that.

My god, too many blocked jumpshots. 5 blocks by my Celtics in the 1st quarter alone.. Garnett with 3, Perkins with 2. Odom with 1.

Pierce has an awesome signature shot for when you are running to the side and shoot. It's a quick step leaner that is really really smooth. That may be a shot for all players because I did a very similar shot with Kobe.

There are some really weird and out of place animations but for every one of those there is an excellent animation. The transition between animation to animation is really good. You can go from driving to a layup seamlessly without feeling stuck in the animation.

Court spacing is really great, you can really feel the shots open up as you draw attention. I love drawing it with Rondo and kicking out or laying it in when the D thinks I'm going to pass

Well hopefully it's not a blockfest like years past. I did just play 2 games though.1st game 0 blocks either side( pro) 2nd game 1 block ( CPU=ALL Star )

So hopefully that is just a rare occurrence, or can be toned down with sliders. I am much more impressed with the ball physics this year and the interaction with the rim. I have seen a lot of new ball animations in regards to it's correlation to the rim.

It still plays a little slow to me, but that can be taken care of with game speed sliders. Jumps feel better, and rebounding is improved to a degree.

Love the beginning with the entrance out of the tunnel, into the stadium.........wish they would have taken this a little further.

The announcing is as good as Live's always has been ( 2nd best to The Show)

Maybe just the way I played, but in 3 games I saw one blocked jumper.
