To piggyback on bls's post about steals... Since i haven't played the demo and im sure its the same, I love the stealing mechanics in Live than any other game.

The reason being is the timing that has to be accurate and you actually lunge for the ball as you really would rather than just swipe with your hand from a stand still position.

Its much better and adds more strategy because your gambling can easily make you overplay the offense and you open the door for the ballhandler to drive to the bucket or make a play.

Good post and I agree... however there needs to be more balance. Currently, if you reach for the steal you are taken out of the play way too often. Guys like Billups, CP and TP can just poke at the ball and still maintain their position. In Live it's an "all or nothing" system.

Agreed Pared... but its amazing that it happens alot in the NBA and you dont pay much attention to it.

That's why Kobe wasnt recognized as a gambler for a long time, because Shaq was taking the blame for not stepping up and challenging the drive man.

That said.. I agree it does need to be toned down and I think we should ask and see if they can patch that code.

Hah, no... the point is that the players WHO WERE NOT ON THE TEAM (i.e. Gasol, or Bynum when he was injured in the Finals) are not able to be used. If Luke Walton wasn't getting any playing time, you can still put him in... I think you misunderstood the feature.

Look at who actually played in that game and look who is available for rewind. Guys on the active roster (for 11/24 game = Ariza, Crittenton, Powe & Davis) aren't on the roster, only the rewind guys because Synergy only has information for guys who played. I didn't just decide to make a post, I looked this up beforehand. Maybe you should have as well.

That's just for Rewind purposes... if you're just using the DNA profile for that period of time, you can still use those players.. but for the actual game rewind it makes sense limiting the roster to who actually played (at least to me), since the whole idea is that you would try to re-create that game. I guess it cheapens Rewind by making it do exactly what that feature is supposed to do?

To take it back to grade school, I'm right and you were wrong. This thread is about rewind games, not DNA rosters. I pointed out in my last post that it's obvious why its limited to the people who played, so clearly I know it makes sense. I just said it cheapens the feature to me because it's plugged as recreating that result or changing the outcome, but you can only do that within the confines of Synergy's information on that game. If i'm the Celtics and Lebron goes off for 60, and I think "Doc shouldve gave Tony Allen some burn against Lebron" I'm SOL if that's how i want to replay that game if Allen got a DNP. Either way i'm not picking up Live '09 but I feel that feature would be better if you could use the whole active roster.

Christ dude, back off, it's REALLY not that big of a deal. It cheapens the feature for you even though it does exactly what it was designed to do.. gotcha. I think it's fine that you don't use the players who didn't play. D'Antoni ran an 8-man rotation all year and you'd still see Piatkowski, Alando Tucker, and Pat Burke in almost every 2K8 game -- this solves that inconsistency within the context of a rewind game, which I think is cool.

Agree to disagree and let it go... Dudes are on-edge around here lately, bloody hell. I blame 2K for not releasing the 2K9 demo already.
