Defensive controls have weird delay bug...

One of the guys here who got the game early mentioned that there was a delay when going for a shot block. It seems like other defensive controls suffer this weird delay too. Try pressing the right stick up to make your player put his hands up and watch how long it takes for it to happen on screen. Seems like a bug on the defensive control side. I hope EA Canada is aware of this and can (and will) patch the game.

I too hope this is patchable. The delay really makes rebounding difficult to control.

Yeah I've noticed it but I probably would not use it much anyway. I just held the Bulls to 42% in the 1st half with the Lakers. They made Kobe just SICK!!!!! I am really starting to get the hang of the defense in this game. Gonna try a little 2K9 now, but I just keep coming back to this game though it has some faults. Peace!!!!

The ball goes through my defender's hand and right into the basket

I do notice as well but it hasn't really affected my gameplay much. Where the delay bothers me is on the menus. Its very noticeable on the menus.

I noticed it in the demo and it's the reason I didn't buy the game and bought 2k instead. I like the look and feel (for the most part) of Live and I wanted desperately to like it but that delay, to me, was so irritating that I couldn't pull the trigger on buying it. In essence, when I hit triangle button to jump, I'd like to see the guy jump....2k is uber responsive in that way. The down side with the 2k game, after playing a half dozen games or so, is I'm starting to wonder where the defense went. If EA patches that jump delay I may be buying it down the road. But that's a big IF. That's a major oversight IMO. Once again, EA focus's on the gimmicks like the dna stuff before nailing down the fundamentals of game play.

It's really not that big of a deal- just have to adjust to it. It's not really a delay, more of the fact that it seems like your character has to gather his momentum before he can jump.

P.S. The reason they made you hold the stick up to put your hands up is so that people couldn't spam that online.

Regardless, I have had no problem playing D in this game and holding the opponents to 40% FG's...and I'm normally a 2K guy.

Edit: No more Shaq/Yao running out to the perimeter to block 3s. yuss.

I agree. It has not affected my defense at all. I too have held my opponents under 50%.

Having the same problem EA needs to make sure this bug is fixed in a patch. And as far as the guy saying it takes time to gather your momenteum thats BS.When i push the button i want my player to jump.All NBA players can jump when they want so why cant we do it on live.
