Nba Live 09, You Go To 'Time Out'!

ok, so in between me geeking out that i can FINALLY play an NBA videogame on 12 minute quarters and have it be realistic, I have noticed the cpu or my coach NEVER, and the Neuroticomic means, never called a timeout. This is after three games.

    WTF

I didnt see anything in the settings for this.

    Anyone else having that issue?

Based on last night's game, I was LAL vs Celtics. I started pulling away from them in the 2nd quarter, and more in the 3rd. They didn't call a timeout. They only called a timeout in the 4th quarter.

    Just once. The entire game.

    12 mins too.

I saw 3 time outs by the cpu in 9 min qtr games. they seem to only call them when you go on a 8-0 run or so.

          3 still isnt enough though.

I've seen timeouts ... especially in the last two minutes.
            Seriously.

Ok I played another 12 minute game today, MIA (me) vs CHI. Game was tied at the half, by then, computer has yet to call a timeout. They started widening the gap at the 3rd and by mid-4th it was already a 20 pt lead. I managed to get it as close as 10, lost the game by 12.

Computer never called a timeout the entire game.

It seems they only call timeouts when you're having a big run, or when the game is close in the 4th, from what I've been reading.

Okay...so what's the problem? How often in actual NBA games do they call timeouts unless there's a big run or the game is close late?

I dunno, lol, but I'm pretty sure no NBA team has gone through the whole game WITHOUT calling a timeout.

I'll try this experiment: I'll turn up the fatigue, then disable the rules/turn off the fouls, so that there will never be a situation for a dead ball. I'll see if at least the CPU would call a timeout to sub out their tired players.

Keep in mind that in the real NBA, they have the benefit of TV timeouts. Those don't exist in the video game world.

I've seen 2-3 timeouts a game. Never once thought anything out of the ordinary, nor did I look up the NBA league average over the last 20 seasons to make sure it was on par.

2-3 timeouts, is not nearly enough timeouts called in a full game.

I'm ok with 2-3 timeouts, even though realistically it is not enough. I'm just bummed when they don't call any at all, on a 12 min game.

I'm just wondering, for those that played Live 08, was it like this also with regards to timeouts?

                              exactly.

tv timeouts notwithstanding, teams DO call timeouts to change game strategys and calm the crowd or players down during a long run.

it was getting silly, me and my girlfriend were guessing as i was playing when they would call a timeout. After a 8-0 run we'd be like, 'ok they are gonna stop the clock here for sure'.

just from seeing the fact that some people are getting only 2-3 and others are getting 0, it needs to be addressed.

by the way, end of game timeouts do NOT count.
