So yeah I picked this up and I like it. I think I'm converted. Live still has a ways to go as far as adding variety and capturing the NBA, but it's a breath of fresh air. The online setup and playcalling/screening stuff is fantastic. The engine, footplanting and simplistic control is pretty sweet too.Last edited by Walker8; 11-09-2008, 11:51 AM.Comment

I like what live is doing. That doesnt mean I hate 2k suddenly lol. People are so bent on proving someone wrong and being fanboys that they take things out of context.... The way I see it is this. 2k9 is the most complete basketball game around and hte best basketball game to date. But after playing it like any game you notice the warts and the engine is dated in certain regards, in need of a patch etc... Live is doing some other things and is fresh and different and I really like where they seem to be headed. Live is in a different phase. 2k is refining an older engine and live is creating something fromt he ground up. To be honest I wish these developers were even more progressive but its their own fault for releasing these games every year trying to get every dollar they can, and not concentrating on putting a complete product out. EAch game has its pluses and minuses for that reason. In my opinion NHL 09 is probably the most complete sports game around right now, but unfortunately I'm not a hockey fan so i'm going by basketball, baseball and football games here.Last edited by Walker8; 11-09-2008, 12:28 PM.Comment

People can like both games, I like live, just choose to play 2k.
Yo walker, I aint no fanboy. I understand what you mean by fresh. I was playing live from 2002-2006 then I played 2k7 and was like oh **** this game is good. So 2k seemed fresh to me, and still does till this day. I always liked lives overall play and been praying that they go back to there old form and become MY favorite bball game. I was suprised this year at what they delivered, I thought it was goin be garbage like 07 and 08, but no, its quite playable and are in the right the direction like what you stated.Comment

It's cool. I wasn't saying that about you, just in general people take things out of context. Me included lol. I like Live a lot. It's really fun. I'm hoping they expand on it and get it up to the levels of NHL because it seems to be a year behind the curve. But yeah I do think Live is kind of more fresh and more fun at this point and it's the game I'll be playing. I'm not knocking 2k either. I played it to death and am just kind of worn out on it at this point and want something different. 2k9 is the more complete basketball game... Dont get me wrong here. Live is kind of still in the pickup game stages and needs to still expand on what they are doing. The animation system while good, still needs a lot of work. The player models do as well. The game needs an identity and players play too much alike. Subs are all messed up. But i like the engine and what they are trying to do. The ambience, the colors kind of pop and give the game atmosphere. The sound is excellent. The online stuff is amazingly accessable. The pick and roll system and simple controls are really good although they could be expanded on. I'm not saying Live is the best basketball game ever, but if they do these things it could be next year and I'll probably say it and have people laugh at me even though its probably true. If it isnt and they disapoint i'll say that too. I think OS is pretty spot on with their review of live giving it a 7.5 and 2k9 a 9, but scores also don't tell the whole story.Last edited by Walker8; 11-09-2008, 05:24 PM.Comment

BTW lets not turn this into another live vs 2k thread. I've closed too many threads on this of late and this is a good thread. Live is sweet. I actually traded in 2k9 and got this game because i wasnt going to spend more money for both. I'm all Live now lol. I'll probably regret it because i really loved 2k9 but whatever...Comment
