    SHOT ALTER ABILITY?

Anyone know what specifically this slider does?

    a) the ability for the shooter (offensive player) to alter his shot under tight defense, hence increasing the % that the shot will go in?

    OR

    b) the ability for the defensive player guarding the shooter to alter the shot attempt, hence decreasing the % that the shot will go in?

It sems to me that this could go either way and I'm hoping that someone here might know because EA refuses to include this material in the booklet.

    Thanks.

o man that is a wonderful question seriously...i always just assumed it was defensively related but now that u say that im thinking it could be offensive.....the best way to know is to look and see if greg oden has a higher shot alter ability than somebody like chris paul and that will tell u....im at work right now though

This is NOT a player specific edit slider....rather a human and CPU global setting.

I really hope someone (Beluba or stephensonmc) can answer this question because this can impact slider editing significantly (as it relates to inside, mid-range and 3-point shooting.

check under ratings for defense it is only listed under the defensive ratings section and on the sliders it falls under the defensive category that's what i saw when i rented the game.

The shot alter Ability (like you say in title) is a individual defensive skill.

But, it is a CPU and HUMAN global seting too.

            I had modified these sliders:
            inside (-5), midle(-5), outside(-5) shooting %
            fatigue effect(+10)
            Shot alter (+18).

The Shot alter (global settings) has a Defensive efect, it is harder to make a easy basket with a layup or dunk attempt with a man in front of you.

Seriously, it seems pretty obvious to me that it's a slider for defense.

                Re: SHOT ALTER ABILITY?

I don't know if anyone else has notice this, but one of the things that kinda irritates me with the shot alter setting slider is that the cpu will alter a layup or dunk attempt with a LOT of contact and yet there won't be a foul called. This is particularly noticable when it's a tight game and I drive to the basket using someone that not only is suppose to be able to finish well at the rim, but also draw fouls on the defender and finish with contact. Very frustrating...

...or maybe I should stop using Kobe...

Oh, and speaking of which, wouldn't it be sick if they had player vocal reactions! Like everytime Kobe or 'Bron go to the rack and they yell out "'EY!" or Rasheed cussin' out the refs after a no call...

                  Re: SHOT ALTER ABILITY?

There are two sliders under individual edits (per player) that do exactly what you want, so you might want to tweak them, as well, universally.

There is shot alter (on defense) as well as an altered shot rating. They work well used together. I dunno if the patch has made it much better, but it obviously doesn't matter much if people are getting their shots altered if they are not missing. So you might wanna change "draw foul" "finish with contact" etc etc... at least, I imagine you would want to. Do this by universally editing by team. I'd go +10 for the ones you want higher or -10 for the ones you want lower and see how that works. Then go 10 more... then find something close then tweak it more closely.
