Re: Official NBA Live 2009 Post Patch Discussion

First impressions. Im truly disappointed. Here are my quick thoughts after my first game post patch. I will post more in depth later after i get a full night of playing in.

    Pro's
    ____
    - Blocking animations are quicker
    - nets seem more active

    Con's
    ____
    - easier FT's? WHY, they were way too easy in the first place.
Everyone now has like 8 bars. Its pointless to even tap to distract. I proved to my friend I can close my eyes and still make it with Detroits crappiest FT shooters. I havent seen anyone miss one yet.
    - Where did the defense go? Fastbreaks are now easier than ever. And the big man cheese is unstoppable.
    - Animations are a being sucked in all over the place. I burn a defender, then all of a sudden they warp back in front of me.
    - nets seem more active(yes this is a pro/con) Now they get stuck on the rim and stay that way all game.
    - Superstars like kobe and lebron just "ignore" the defender and go "through" the defender. this happened pre-patch, but now is much worse.
    - Did i mention how terrible the defense was now?

Anyways, now im going to go play some more, and pray i get proved wrong. If this truly is the final patch, which to me has made the game unplayable, Im done with this game.

EDIT: Note that my experiences are all online. I dont play offline and really dont care to. So if devs are going to sacrifice online play for the offline crowd, ill spend my money elsewhere. I also think that if you think what makes a good game is what color of shoes or headband each player is wearing then you might as well just watch basketball on tv. Gameplay is what makes a game. And this patch so far is a huge step back in overall gameplay online.

i'm guessing they made the ft's tat way because there is a delay when shooting them online. i would much rather they fix the delay but apparently they arent, so they put a bandaid on it and just made ft's really easy. Agains thte cpu they arent that way though. just head2head.

Hey Steph, first of, if you didn't see some of my previous posts, GREAT JOB. The game is even better post patch. You guys freakin Nailed it this year.

One problem though. The Cavs rotation is screwed up. I don't want to have to change it manually because I don't want to screw up the 365 stuff. Which is amazing by the way. Anyway, Lorenzen Wright should not be the first or second big off the bench. He should be on the IL. Darnell Jackson should now be in the rotation as well, along with Hickson getting more pt. Just a heads up for you.

Are you kidding me dude? The AI defense just completely ignores a human player while running the fast break. Your lucky if the guy even turns to try to defend.

I only play online...So are the patch improvements applicable to online ballers?

One thing is for certain...I will NEVER miss a FT again based on the way they changed the meter...Its WAAAAY too easy...If anything they should have made FT's more difficult.

One thing I noticed in a game is I made a few subs and for some reason one of my defenders simply would not guard his man...The exact sub was a PF being subbed at SF...One Demarcus Aldridge was subbed at SF he would not check his man in man 2 man D...anyone else see this???

I'm still lovin the game tho...Defensively big men still tend to not get back on D fast enough resulting on garbage layups and dunks

Re: NBA Live Patch Released (360/PS3) - Impressions

                  Stephensonmc,

I'm on the PS3, and I've seen no change as far as the in-game replays and halftime reel. The replays stutter or are choppy and the halftime reel doesn't work after hitting the L1 button several times during gameplay. I only play offline.

Usually what happens is someone will post that their replays and halftime reel works. Silky smooth I think I've seen several times. Suggestions have been made to put in another game and that will rectify the problem.

I know this was suppose to be in the patch, but these features really are not working across the board for everyone. People posting that their works does not make the problem go away.

It just bothers me that because some people replay and halftime reel works, then it must not be a problem. It's still a problem.

Can you explain why everyone's replay does not run silky smooth or why the halftime reel does not work for everyone? Again this is offline, PS3.

Was this issue even released in the patch? Or did this not make it into the patch for the PS3.

Just guessing here, but if he knew why it did that, I figure they would have fixed it in the patch.

                      Stephensonmc,

Please reset the FT meter to at least the difficulty it was before the patch...The post patch FT meter is almost laughable...I will guarantee you that nobody will miss any FT's...It takes away from the strategy of fouling poor FT shooters at the end of the game when you are down because all players shoot FT's as if they were Steve Nash or Derek Fisher.

I've used the Suns quite a bit and usually near the end of the 4th Shaq sits in a close game because I don't want him on the FT line...Now it doesn't even matter...Shaq = Nash on the FT line

Sage I know what you mean. I was in practice with a team I play with often and was like DAM my mans got on new Sneaks... It makes the game seem alive. You play a team in oct then you play that same team in Nov and theres a good chance they will not only play different but LOOK different.

Exactly. It adds that freshness and authenticity that Live has been lacking for a few years. The base they've built this year is very solid. It seems as tho next year will be VERY special.

Authentic is the word man. its like the more nba games i watch . the more I wanna play live. My players get in the same positions on the floor run the same plays and with dna even try to shoot from the same places. You add more individual player packages like the competition and like the song says. its always been dirty but now its getting ugly.

and year 2 of dna what they hell will that look like. Add in a healthy dose of Beluba and Steph's passion for accessories and updates and what can you do but be excited about the possibilites of a once dead franchise with the money to make it happen.

PS3 (I did have the patch when it was first released accidentally BTW)

Anyways, I never was able to do this before the patch. Don't know if it's the sliders or the patch but there are no real 'gimmes' down low. And I love that I can go back up for boards.

Simple video but I like it. No dunks, just fighting for the boards.
