    The fastbreak problem in photos...

A lot of people who don't have the game have asked me "what's the fastbreak problem?"...and a lot of guys here have also tried to explain it. Most people playing it know exactly what it is, but it's not easy to explain. Here's a simple series of photos that show it very clearly.

Simply...the CPU wingmen don't know how to fastbreak / some sort of coding goes wrong / I don't know, but they simply don't know how to fastbreak off rebounds.

This is with the latest 365 rosters.

    Pictorial:

    1. I am the Cavs and go for the offensive rebound...I don't get it...the CPU starts the break (as they should).

    2. D Wade leads the break...and he's got all of my men beat down court...he has Shawn Marion and an OPEN COURT...

    3. But wait...Marion is going to the 3 point line Despite having NO ONE in front of him, he's coded like all wingmen to go to the 3 point line...

Worse...the Miami center is getting ready to set a pick for D-Wade. (Despite there being an OPEN COURT).

    4. Amazingly, Marion has gone to the 3 point line and is preparing to take a 3 point shot. (My D got back and he missed).

I mean to say fellas, D-Wade to The Matrix in an OPEN COURT...and they don't know what to do...

I mentioned this pre patch as I was hoping it would be fixed. It wasn't obviously.

However...I do hope they work it out by 2010 and hopefully having the photos to refer to will help Steph and co. see that this is a massive gameplay flaw / a gamekiller in many ways.

The half court game is so good that it's a pity the game is let down by the horrendously poor full court AI.

Re: The fastbreak problem in photos...

court vision did you look at the vids i posted in your " half court/ fullcourt" thread

i am certain its the dna a guy like marion has a spot rating of 65 i think, so yes he is programmed to run to the 3pt line

i was having this discussion with 23 and they in most cases went for the hoop if their dna was edited more evenly i noticed..........

i am looking to incorporate the dna edits while retaining a teams style of play, i think it can be fixed PATIENCE MATE......

I would like your opinion on the vids even though they were preliminary i think they show promise, the quality on filefront causes the speed of the vid to jump but it should be an interesting watch.........

Thanks for this CV. We're fully aware of what this is, but like Beluba said, we couldn't fit it in to the patch.

Oh, you can break all day - but the computer's not gonna.

This is the kind of stuff the 2K9 guys point to and laugh. A very evident, known gaff, that we get told, "Can't help, sorry."

Mind you, I LOVE this game, it does SO many more things right than it does wrong, but that's overshadowed by things like this.

There's an equally big bug that does allow YOU to fastbreak at will...if you turbo and hit your big after a rebound, he will often be way ahead of the CPU...

It's ultimately why I've stopped playing, aside from the odd game here and there with the Jazz (I love the pick and roll controls)...

I can get 20 + fastbreak points a game without trying...the CPU is lucky to get any. And, as the photos show, doesn't execute on the break / has no logic / doesn't know what to do.

It's a huge flaw, but a patch wouldn't be realistic at this stage.

I am sure they'll work it out for 2010

Side note: Agree about the 2K stuff...but that game is a longggg way ahead. It's much more complete. I don't expect LIVE to really catch up until 2011 at least.

I saw your post and I agree in part.

I changed LBJ's DNA though to go always to the hoop...and he still didn't do it.

IMO it's a coding fault. The SF's are programmed to run to the 3pt line.

Is this issue in NCAA 09, and if so will they patch it in that game?

Who cares man? Just enjoy your game?

Do you play and think "man the guys on OS must be laughing at me right now?"

Do you realize how silly this sounds? There's much more "right than wrong" as you point out. Just enjoy it!

(nodding) Yeah, you're right, Pared. I will, and I DO enjoy it, it's SO good in so many ways. This game is SO close to blowing the competition out of the water, just a few tweaks away.

Do you play and think "man the guys on OS must be laughing at me right now?"

Do you realize how silly this sounds? There's much more "right than wrong" as you point out. Just enjoy it!

I've been preaching how fastbreaks have been broken in all baseketball games for the last seven years...glad that someone else has taken issue with this as well. The developers won't fix it unless there is a loud enough public outcry.
