Well I own both 2K and EA basketball titles this year. I bought Live because I loved the demo. Now, I've also ordered NCAA Basketball 09.

TBH I don't play both games at all. I think I like College titles more. But If I were to play a NBA game right now, I would go with Live.

Live 09 gets the nod...i have both titles and Live's DNA system and the Physics of the game(foot planting tech, player collisions, etc) create a much more realistic feel than 2K which is a game of how to use animation exploits to beat your opponent rather than on the court ones...

go with Live, im sure Live 2010 is going to be far superior than 2K now with Mike Wang doing the development(former 2k developer)

I rented both games, all I can say is... I have no idea what game I should get! 2K9 has better graphics which's not usual! But the gameplay seems to be a bit tough, but somewhat realistic. NBA Live.. pretty much the same but feels a lot easier to play, took me only one game to play to win the first one while the NBA 2k9 took me 5.

NBA Live does have different layup styles from what I could see which is cool, the 2K9 seems to have same ones over and over. Using the same button as shoot while Live has 2 seperate buttons which I kinda like.

Also in depth, i would say 2k9 seems to have a bit better depth. Haven't really tested out the 365 as you couldn't do that if you rent a game.. no code on the game box so I'm outta luck till I actually buy the game.

Create a player mode sucks on both sides I would say, the Live has way less choices than usual (I think, haven't played live since the pc version of 05) I don't like how the 2k9 edit/create players work 'casue when you're done with the edit player but don't want to save, you'll have to go through the menu to go back tot he roster which is pain in the butt unless there is a way (other than saving the edit)

So yeah guess I'm gonna play the live for a week and figure out down the road. Kinda want to try the 2k9 again to be certain lol.

You have to take time and learn all the moves in 2k to be more successful. There are different layups you can do in 2k depending on what direction you move the shot stick. Get to learn the different isomotion and post up moves so you can have more success in the game. Take sometime in practice mode to develop these moves. The game is a lot more fun when you get all this stuff down. You'd be surprise to see how much there is to learn.

As for Live, I haven't tried it yet but it definitely sounds like they are making moves in the right direction. If 2k doesn't come up with new features next year they might just lose their crown to Live. I also want to give a thumbs up to the game designers for interacting with gamers and trying to make Live a better game and give sports gamers the best possible product. Looks like I better give Live another chance.

I just picked up Live 09, and even though I've been playing 2k since the original, I have to say I'm really enjoying it. It certainly is rougher around the edges than 2k in some aspects, but the flow of the gameplay and court spacing is fantastic. Plays a great game of NBA basketball. I'm glad I checked out the alternative, and I can't wait to see what's in store for '10.
