    Planning to buy Live but...

So yeah I might pick it up tommorow.. but I'm still not sure..

Havn't played Live for years so this is my first nex-gen basketball game..

What's very important for me is the gameplay (realistic stats also?) and definatly dynasty/franchise mode..
I know the gameplay is pretty much solid but how bout the franchise mode?
How are the rookies? How is the off-season etc..

    Any info would be welcome

Re: Planning to buy Live but...

i have both, nba 2k9 has great gameplay, but nba live has improved so much since last year, online 5 on 5 is fun. my suggestion is get both, they're not goin to bust your wallet because i think both are 40 dollars.....

i enjoy multiplayer on live but playing alone, or season i like 2k9.

now as far as graphics.....both are exellent, the atmOphere in 2k9 is great, but also is live.....i think that live 10 will be good.....but to make decision id go with both

I would say d/l both demos. Make a decision from there. Or rent both, and make a decision from there.

dont buy live 09, ive bought live for years. this year was the final straw. someone said 09 is better than 08, i disagree. dynasty mode and certain things maybe. but gameplay is soooo bad, i bought it and sold it within a week. now don't get me wrong im sure a lot of people like it. but thats probably because every shot they take goes in and the most impossible layups go in no matter what. in my opinion, GARBAGE don't waste your money.

Does either game have trophies? I was also debating getting Live 09 or 2k9.
            MLB: New York Mets
            NFL: New York Giants
            NBA: New York Knicks

Re: Planning to buy Live but...

See and this is the problem just look at the comments here even reviews are confusing..

I'm definatly not buying 2 games of the same genre.. I bought Fifa and Pro evo and the lack of this from game 1 and the lack of that in game 2 made me not play both of them anymore..
So that's not something I want to see happening here..

I did play the demo's but that didn't tell me much... it didn't give me any info about what I found most important.. the dynasty/franchise mode..

I hardly ever play online so the 5 on 5 option may cool but I'm not going to use that option...so the problems with online stuff really are of no intrest to me..

Renting is also no option cause that's basicly forbidden here in Holland... (for some strange reason.. it was legal though a while back)

So to get back a my initial post.. how good is the dynasty mode in live.. I mean how's free agency, injuries, progression, players you draft.. look I have played Madden a lot and the franchise mode is just flat out dissapointing.. so is this the same story with live?
Normally I would go for 2k9 but after a lot of reading and digging the association seems to be broke.. and that definatly can be a killer for me..

On the other hand why should I buy another copy from EA...

Re: Planning to buy Live but...

                look...:

to make 2k9 playable you have to edit all players in certain ways...like their tendencies and attributes...so it's no problem in your first season...because you have downloaded the roster of nogster, neon or tomba...but what about the rookies in the next years...to have it real you will have to re-edit them every year...

you will not have this problem in live...you just download the newest roster...and everything is fine...great game!

Re: Planning to buy Live but...

I think Im going to be picking this up as well. I had 2k9 and it was a solid game but there are certain things that really irritate me, that may not even bother other people, but the jerky movements of players, the impossibility of getting a player to run instead of walk, the delay in some shooting animations etc. drove me to sell that awhile back but the itch to play basketball again got the better of me. I tried out the demo and had a good time, its fresh since I havent touched the NBA Live series in 5+ years atleast so thats an added bonus.

Now to my specific question. Can someone explain to me what this 365 thing is and how it works? The demo seemed to touch on it but I would rather hear it from guys here who have had hands on experiences with it and will tell it like it is. If anyone wants to throw in any short comings they feel the game has that would be appreciated as well. Thanks in advance guys.

EDIT- Almost forgot, when playing the demo the scoreboard at the top is right in the way when it comes to seeing the rim, is there someway to fix this other then not using the broadcast camera angle? Maybe it was fixed with a patch at some point and Im just unaware since I never played the game prior to today?
