I really want to like this game, but I can't get past these issues-- help me out

I dislike the block animations (all the blocks are really soft in a sense, like the defender barely got any ball)-- you won't see any Josh Smith/LeBron James monster blocks in Live 09 as far as I can tell.

Also, the players seem to run too slowly on fast breaks-- there's no real "full speed, end-to-end sprint" animation, again, as far as I can tell.

The last issue is the jerky animations, mostly transitions from dribbling to jump shots or dribbling to lay-ups/dunks (honestly, though, this is not a really big issue and I can get over it). The first two, though, keep from enjoying this game as much as I wish I could. I honestly find it better than NBA 2K9 as a sim.

Is there nothing I can do to fix or maybe be able to better overlook these issues?

The only way you'll enjoy this game is first you have to set your mind that it isn't 2k and it's not going to animate or play as fast as 2k.

But what is here is beyond solid basketball, and I agree it's more sim! But you have to get the play styles of both games some separation in your mind. And then you'll enjoy it more. Also try L4D's final sliders on 9 mins and then report back on your experience once you alter those settings.

Ive see some monster blocks. They dont happen to often but they do happen. If you look at a couple of those EA sports world videos youll see a couple.

Ray I think you would be best served waiting until live 10... I understand what is hurting the game for you and honestly there is nothing to really help that I know of.

Live 09 is a fun game very very fun when you are able to look past those obvious things and get to the core of the gameplay but it can be difficult to do over a long period of time.

Your the type of gamer that knows exactly what he is looking for and it would be hard to "fool" you about the issues the game has. 10 should be much better in all those areas you mention. Just play the show until madden and then madden until the live or 2k ...not great but it works

Honestly, Live 09 is the sports game I have enjoyed the most this year so far, in terms of "hey I really like playing this game."

I agree with Czar, in that you have to judge the 2 game's approach to the sport entirely seperate from each other, because they are both trying to accomplish different things.

Ive always felt that 2k tries to replicate the feel of watching an NBA telecast, while Live tries to replicate the feel of being in a NBA arena.

Going back and forth between the 2 is tough. Im playing 2k now and I still get caught up playing like I am playing live, and that has led to some savage online beatings

Your concerns are the same as mine. Try as i might i can't get past the herky jerky animations and terrible transitions from one animation to the next.

I'm sure live 2010 will be WAY better in this regard so i ended up trading in both live and nba 2k9 and am just waiting for the new versions.

I know i say this every year BUT i really believe live will be alot better in the next instalement. A full year of Mike Wang hands-on will be a huge benefit to live 10..
