Guys I need to know point blank....

Is Live a sim or not. I had the itch to play some ball after watching the finals so I , stupidly, popped in NBA 2K9. The garbage I saw go down OMG. I just need to know if Live, faults and all, exploits and glitchs, at it's heart is a sim. I want to know will the cpu take over and override any and everything thats going on on the court to produce an outcome. This is what I need to know. I'm ready TOMORROW to turn in NBA 2K9 and get Live 09 if this is the case. I can't take that other game anymore. I came SOOO close to possible destroying god knows what because at the end of an over time game I just played the cpu decided I was NOT going to get a last second shot off but instead run out of bounds with the ball underneath the basket ALL ALONE.

I need to know that stupid animations wont kick in on fast breaks preventing me from scoring. I need to know that no matter WHO is passing the ball and how great that player is if they make completely stupid passes the pay the price. I need to know if sound basketball prevails over some predicted outcome.

Can someone please tell me if this game is a sim at it's heart. NBA 2K9 is NOT a sim at it's heart and therefor is NOT the game for me. The 2KInsider , in respond to one of my posts, in his own words say it's difficult to create a balance of sim and fun. Well when you mix a balance between a Golden Retriever and a Greyhound you have a MUTT. You DO NOT have a Golden Retriever and you DO NOT have a Greyhound. You have a MUTT.

SO I'm tired playing this mutt and would like to finally play a sim game. I don't mind if I get online and run into people who cheese or take advantage of glitches as long as I know that was not the programmers intent.

I know what 2K's intent is and it isn't where I want to go. Now I need to know can Live fill that void. Mind you I'm talking about online play. Anyone?

If you don't mind some weird animations, and you play the game the correct way, i got to say yes.

The core of Live 09 is a simulation. It's a little bit hard sometimes, if you're used to 2k9 (my case), but once you start using your playbook, and looking for mismatches and exploiting them, it's all good.

The problem comes talking about defense. You don't have the same weapons as attacking. And when you expect to see a bad shot from the CPU because of your good defense, the ball goes in.

My advice is rent the game, try it, and if it is what you're looking for, then buy it.

Thanks for the info man. At this point I think I'm just going to have to outright buy it anyway. Only problem is they want 35 for used copy of the PS3 version and I can't find a used or new copy for the 360 anywhere. I just didn't want to throw that money down and be just as disappointed. 2K's game is just frustrating cause you can see where they could have easily went sim with it and chose not to. And I really don't think they're going to change anything for the future so I'm done with that.

I guess I'll bite the bullet and pick it up today.

Just be prepared that the pace of the game is completely different.

Youre going to think that the game is really slow at first.

Once you get used to it and see how everyone moves, you'll find the pace resembles a real game in the half court, more then 2k.

        Fastbreaks are a mess though.

Online isnt great You put up with a half dozen dopes, who only want to force the baseline, abuse the "pick and slip"- (They call for the pick instantly relase and press "A" The screener never gets picked up ), and play coward defense: do nothing but try to take charges, reach, before you play someone with a brain who actually plays like they know something about basketball
