Skip to the 45sec mark and wait for Garnett to score. Do guys remember this from Live '06? One of the few things that game did awesome is now trash in '09. I get it, the game runs @ 60fps so I guess we'll never see anything like that in the upcoming releases.

I'd take 60fps crowds and atmosphere like that if it meant scaling back on the textures of the player models and coaches. Sure as hell beats the whole 2nd row poplocking at 30fps..

Same here. No matter how fun the game is, I still cant stand to look at live's version of thunderstickswhile at the free throw line

I dont see why players models and crowd movement cant work together?

This year wasn't that great at all but it matters in the scheme of atmosphere. They dont even move in replay mode.

Looking back at Live 06 though, this game should have been far more advanced

The intro and the tip off were the best parts of Live 06 by a mile..that was a terrific part of the game. I liked the arena had a bit of a "smokey" look

i agree with the poster above. I noticed that in previous lives (06,07) the arenas seemed larger and had more detail to it

I agree totally with you man on this one. In fact from all the bball games Ive played I think the crowd in Live 06' for Next Gen was the best and most realistic. I love the way the crowd exploads when they score. I actually have this game at the crib, and although it sucks very bad this is one of the bright spots for that game.

I dont like how in 2k9 the crowd is all rowdy from the start. It takes them 1 to 2 minutes to sit down, and they animate rowdy but dont really produce much noise. I like in that live how they animate. Most NBA games the crowds are not that amped from the start. They have to be amped up by the players. Only in college do you see crowds that rowdy. I like rowdy but it needs to be toned down and amped up only in key moment or important games.

Live crowd in 09 is terrible and i hope they fix it. I hope they add more diversity to the crowds. Different things happen in a crowd, from the guy getting up to go to the bathroom, to the mascot playing tricks with the crowd, to the beerman selling beer. And please developers dont have the same person with the same shirt on doing the same thing in the very next row, lol. Give us rally towels, thundersticks, clappers, team color shirts. Especially for people that like doing franchises, we should be able to put stuff like that in our budget and have fan appreciation games. IMO the fans are just as important as the player models. They make the atmosphere realistic and authentic.

Live has the best audio as far as crowds go so atmosphere wont be an issue. Jus dont forget the little things

I can honestly say that one of my deciding factors in getting 2K9 over Live 09 was the crowd models. I'd love for the Live '10 crowd to be realistic this year.

More details for crowd specifics:


-Nba crowds usually are not at full capacity at the beginning of nba games, usually around end of 1 qtr and 2nd the stands get packed because fans are still fighting traffic to get into the arena, be nice to see fans still coming into their seats. On the flip side, it would be nice to see them leave as well when the game is out of hand or during the end of the game when the players are being interviewed or are walking off the court

-Nba crowds usually react with "clapping" early in games when the game gets intense, someone gets dunked on and or the 4th qtr comes, crowds explode and jump out there seats. Their arms flair up in excitment as they explode out of their seat, (see Live 06 next gen) (see 2k9 for rowdy crowds)

-Also Standing ovations should come during key moment (intros, when someone gets dunked on "nasty", when a player makes a hustle play "sportscenter top tennish" like play, during the 4th when a star player has checked out and he gets a round of ovation. (Wouldnt mind a cut-scene showing your star player walking off the court to the bench and getting a standing O and the commentators mention "and the fans showing there appreciation for his spectacular play"). Standing O's should come when the game is under the last 24 seconds and you (the home team) have the ball dribbling out the clock. You should get a standing O say in a playoff game your team just got a key offensive rebound and decided instead of going back up for a shot to pull it out and set the offense back up (this happens in regular season games too)

-in close game situations crowds standing should throw their hands up in digust and disbelief when their team make a dumb play or turnover or misses a game winning or tying shot.

-Crowds should turn on the home team when they are playing like Hott Doo-Doo.

-Authentic crowd chants for specifc players
-Authentic crowd chants for specifc teams "Beat LA, Detroit -sucks" (you guys probably cant add that last one but it would be nice to hear)

-When someone on the opposing team fouls out or a team is about to be eliminated from a playoff series, crowd should chant Nahna Nahna Hey hey hey goodbye!!!

-If your playing in the playoffs and your about to sweep someone the crowd should chant "Sweep, Sweep!!" Maybe see someone with a broom in the stands, lol

-In the playoffs or regular season you should add a cutscene that shows an opposing teams fan sitting down in his seat repping his team with their jersey and team colors and having the home fans heckle him as he sits down.

-In the playoffs more team support color t-shirts (should also have a sprinkle of the opposing teams colors in the stands)

-Should have people holding posters and cutouts (maybe in the stands when shooting freethrows, maybe have someone have that hypnotize sign with the swirl spinning)

Hmm i think that's all I have for now, but you get the idea. Some of this stuff can and should be random and happen throughout the duration of playing tons of games. And this is to keep the experience fresh and get that seen something new feel even after months of playing the game.

I still play some 06 every now and then but remember one really bad thing about that crowd. When the away team scores, the crowd stood up and did an aw shucks kind of animation that looked to similar to the cheering animation.

I agree with crowd signs. The crowd also needs animations for when the away team makes a huge play. Have them place their hands on their heads, put their heads down, or turn away in disgust, along with a loud groan across the arena. It'd be funny if the players put their finger to their mouth as well. That would be amazing.

During timeouts the cameras should scan the crowd for their reactions to the previous play and current game situation. In a blowout game they should be seen leaving the arena.
