One thing that 2K does do right that I hope EA will "borrow"
The real time game play. Let me clarify, I do like how the game plays in real time where when the clock stops players just don't magically appear in a huddle or at the line for a free throw (well free throws I don't think is as seamless). But the dead ball action continues from the game clock action. It does give a realistic feel. A foul under the rim doesn't show the offender suddenly at half court complaining. I hope , probably not for Live 10, but in the future they can get that worked into the game.Tags: None -

Yeah, I didn't want to come out and put it point blank dissing but cutscenes are definitely played out.Comment

I love that aspect of 2K. Some parts of it need some refining (such as waiting for the refs to come down court and hand the ball to a player), but overall it's great and adds a lot to the game. Live's cut-scenes are terrible in comparison. Unfortunately I don't think you will see this in Live anytime soon, just doesn't seem like the kind of thing they would do. Look for them to add some more cut-scenes only.Comment

Yeah, I always hated that when watching replays you see guys teleporting all over the floor between sequences. It happens in both games though really -- 2K always has them magically transported from underneath the basket to the free throw line for shots, and Live is 95% cutscenes in those situations. A seamless system where players walk back to their spots would be great and do a lot to remove the "videogamey" look that these games both have.
I understand that not all users want to wait for all the players to casually walk to their spots on the other side of the court for a FT sequence, so just have a "press button" option that would warp them to their spots so you can continue with the game if wanted. Having the "showing emotion" cutscenes or celebrations happening within the confines of the normal game will go a long way towards immersion I think. 2K does do a good job with this -- you almost always see players high-fiving, jawing, or celebrating after baskets (and-1 plays in particular). but then they warp 15 feet to the FT line still heh. Both games have work to do in this department.Send your Midnight Release weirdo pics/videos to my new website: http://www.peopleofmidnightreleases.com!Comment

Re: One thing that 2K does do right that I hope EA will "borrow"
2K's freethrow warp was by design from what I recall. They wanted to keep the game moving while at the same time have all this realtime action. I think that was a dumb move personally because like you said you could just press a button to skip ahead if you didn't want to wait. But I really hope they can do something like this in Live 11. Or at least have cutscenes just be a framed continuation of the action that triggered the cutscene.Comment

yeah, at first I was really feeling the cutscenes because the visuals were just amazing..after awhile it got boring because the same one would show up for different situationsComment

"Points in the paint have been the story so far Kevin..." Yeah, they have been the story in every single game in 2K9.
But, yeah I agree with Total, Live really needs to amp up it's presentation as Czar has pointed out so clearly.Comment

I seriously never understood what's so hard about re-creating real NBA telecasts in this context... just watch a game, see what players do, add animations accordingly, and set animations to trigger in the proper situations.Comment

I 2nd that. "Real-time" is what's up. Cut scenes are ok in some instances like for intros and maybe end of games, but real-time is where 2k has been thriving in the atmosphere department IMO.Yeah so in summation I don't know who you racing I'm already at the finish line with the flag waving, c'mon!Comment

Re: One thing that 2K does do right that I hope EA will "borrow"
Also when implementing the "skip ahead" feature make it where both players have to press to skip ahead. If I pull off a tricky reverse layup with Nate and get fouled in the process I might want to see Nate's reaction as I'm getting into the game. So I wont press my "A" button to skip to the free throw but the other guy who just hacked me might be mad and want to skip it. He shouldn't just automatically get to skip ahead. If I hack somebody who just threw it down on me and he's doing a KG scream I might want to skip it but I shouldn't have that option unless the other guy also presses his button.
I haven't played this game , can anyone tell me if it works like Madden where if someone disconnects you continue to play the cpu online?Comment
