I like the direction that the live series is going under the new developers. The fundamentals of basketball are being added which will provide a more authentic experience.

Live is promoting "HUSTLE PLAYS, REBOUNDING, BIG MOVES!".. um.. yeah.. 2k has had those things for the past 3 years?

It's funny because people who played Live exclusively were stating how the game is much better, and yet even the devs of Live came out and said it really wasn't that good of a game in comparison to the competition. I like their candid honesty which tells me they will work hard on bringing a good title this year. Nonetheless, it seems a bit weak to be pushing these things onto their customers as if these are new features, improved - yes, new - no.

Dont get into what 2k had for 3 years, Live got Synergy, 2k gets 82games this year. Live has pre game rituals, then 2k says they got rituals, live had hot spots for players, 2k has cell phone bar for hot spots, they take from each other.

From what? a few players who dribble the same? improved animations? players hustling?

I love how people completely ignore the positive parts but focus on the negatives.

I love the improvements, they did a solid job with boxouts and having the players tap the ball to themselves. KD and Harris's jumpers were bang on, the fluidity from dribbling to shot motion was also really well done.

The impartial people here were stating that these improvements are something which have been in "the other game" for a long time; and people were quick to say "I'M BUYING IT!" when you haven't even viewed a gameplay video yet?

True true. Things that are promoted are necessary parts of NBA basketball. But, while 2k has them for a while, they weren't executed at right times or you didn't have control (or at least not enough) over them and that I think Live will give us this year. If 2k improves they will still have better game. But if this is just loud mouthing by EA then we will yet again have one good bball game (even if 2k just smoothers some gameplay issues and nothing else).

I didnt see people saying the draft combine wasnt exciting because Sony had the life already in their game.

Its a freaking joke to me to come in here and smash down on things and make up words to fit agendas....whoever it might be

Rebounding was needed, different dribble moves were needed, great,they added them, some people will enjoy that...I dont care if it was in Magic Johnson's fastbreak.. let them have their fun.

..and guys please, the people who are saying they are sold are the people who already wanted the game anyhow, just like the people who are paying 5 bucks for an in game mode for 2k will buy their game too.

If someone wants to declare a game the best ever, I'm totally O.K. with that, even if I personally feel it may be a bit premature. I'll take that over relentless bashing, and calling developers out of their name, every day of the week.

Barring some unfortunate bugs that aren't patchable, I think both NBA games are going to be GREAT this year, which one will be the best? that going to be a matter of opinion, probably mostly based on player control and artistic style.

A lot of us will get both games and OD on basketball goodness. I just hope that those who choose only one game don't feel the need to justify their singular purchase by taking juvenile shots at the other game.

We're not talking about it much now, but I actually hope that somehow, someway, NCAA Basketball 10 is actually the best game of the three. College Basketball Dynasty mode done correctly >>>> every other game mode ever, IMO of course.

I'm happy they have them in. It doesn't matter if 2k had them or not if it's a part of basketball. It's a good thing for them to be in there. And copying "touch ups" is worse than copying fundamental parts of basketball that need to be in the game in my book. That shows copying more than representing fundamentals of basketball does imo. But honestly I don't care I just want a good basketball game. There is no reason to try to make the other one look worse.

I was responding to him, the fact they added them is excellent.

He said 2k responded by adding certain features, I was pointing out that those features are small in comparison to what Live was missing.

Again, I love what Live has done, and I am more than convinced I will finally try out the game this year. I was an avid live fan up to the year 2004 and played since Live 97, I loved the commentary last year but really looked for a reason to try it out and I wasn't given one when I saw how robotic and arcadish the game looked.

That being said, I have high hopes. Like I stated, the player dribbling is very nice. I like what LeBron did in the vid, that was extremely authentic to what he does in real life. Furthermore, the boxing out sequences with Dwight/Bynum/KG were really great and lifelike, I have no reason to hate this game. My point was to say that people were wowed and amazed by certain aspects that should have been there a long time ago, nonetheless, it's a great improvement and achievement and I'm glad a new team took over Live.

Lastly, 2k9 was in no way a GOOD basketball game. In fact, it was far from it. The animations simply made up for all the glitches/bugs/gameplay problems; it was an arcade fest.
