Gamescom REALLY made me feel much less confident in Live 10...

I was totally unimpressed by the gameplay videos, and no, it can't be blamed on the difficulty settings or the skill of the users.

I saw bad physics, poor animations, an overabundance of backboard layups (yes, I said it), and an overall so-so game visually.

Don't get me wrong, I also saw a lot of stuff that I liked. Pre-game intros, relevant stat overlays, more realistic FT presentation, better ball/rim physics, etc... but I just think that the reports of Live's guaranteed ascension to the top of the video game basketball world have been greatly exaggerated.

But on a more serious note. Have you read any of the hands-on previews from gaming sites and members here at OS? They all enjoyed the game and claimed it was a big leap from 09. Why should you lose confidence? And who stated that this game was going to be at "the top of the video game basketball world"? I think you are expecting too much?

I can't speak for you ray but I was thoroughly impressed. I've been playing 2k since the dreamcast days, but after everything that live has shown me thus far, I'm switchin'. Animations, help d, defense, control...........what more can I say. See ya 2k.

I'm in the same boat as you (I've been playing since AI was on the Dreamcast cover )... 2k has grown stale for me. Last year I considered the switch to Live but wasn't convinced they had made all of the necessary strides and the demo gameplay was too clunky for me. After about a week of 2k I gave up on hoops completely and picked up NHL 09 (so glad I did by the way).

This year is a different story though... Live is leaps and bounds better and while I'm not crowning it king of all hoops games for 2010, it sure is going to be the closest we've ever seen this competition.

Hasn't really dampered my excitement for the game because most of the guys that have played it have a pretty positive outlook.

And I don't agree with you about the user skill thing because I think that has a lot to do with how a game can be presented.

The thing about watching these videos is I'm not playing the game myself. So I don't really know how much of the bad things are due to the player or the game.

If you were to record yourself playing the game for the first few times and then playing for the 30th time the difference would be huge.

Because you would be more comfortable with the controls and how everything works within the game.

So passes and dribble moves would all look more smooth because you know what your doing now. A lot of the videos are coming from some pretty inexperienced people in terms of playing NBA Live 10.

In this case the amount of basketball knowledge you have may not be on display because you are trying to get comfortable with the game itself.

I bet when the devs put up that video of them playing on All star the difference will be huge. If its not then we have something to worry about because we know its the game itself not the player.

Just look at the difference between the gamersdye video and the one brs2305 posted on youtube. The difference between the two is huge imo.

Ray first off I think its good you were brought down now so that you can only go up from here. Steph whole thing all summer has been to not buy into the hype and keep a level head about what they could achieve.

videos did nothing to dampen my excitement and in fact I am looking more forward to the game now than before.

Couldnt agree more Czar. Ive had realistic expectations for this game not believing all the hype and not beleiving they could add all this features in this game. Live fixed its biggest problems with rebounding, dribble moves, hustle plays, blocks, and actual contact animations. Now after watching how fluid the game looks and listening to the hands on previews I am pumped. It sounds like there is nothing that will make me break my controller into 2. Which is something that 90% of video games make me want to do.

To Ray watch the video of the one with the Lakers alternate White and Blue jerseys. This video showcases actual good gameplay (still not great though). Also remember these people couldnt get down the controls. Wait till later this week when they release All-Star gameplay.

cant please everyone and thats your opinion so i wont knock it. we all have them. two choices buy it or not.. i dont think EA will go outta business because you dont buy it.... just buy the other basketball game...

i speak the truth. all my friends that claim 2k is the best are upset with kobe missing layups and getting blocked in these live 10 vids. ive been playing 2k from the start so i am not biased. 2k9 was a half done game that to me hurt the series. Live is strong this year and i hope they come out on top

i speak the truth. all my friends that claim 2k is the best are upset with kobe missing layups and getting blocked in these live 10 vids. ive been playing 2k from the start so i am not biased. 2k9 was a half done game that to me hurt the series. Live is strong this year and i hope they come out on top

would you be upset if 2k ended up being better than live again? i just dont get why people think it's a win/lose thing when it comes to ea and 2k... in a perfect world both companies would come out with great but different games, i don't want either company to put out a bad game...
